Trans Panic break down every song on their debut album 'Songs For Tranarchists'!

Today marks the release of the debut album by Portland, Oregon-based queer punk rockers Trans Panic. The album is called Songs for Tranarchists and finds the band – made up of Ruby Lee on vocals and bass, Callie on guitar and backing vocals, and Terra on drums – channeling their indomitable energy into ten tracks that will have you opening a pit in no time at all. The band explores the growing class divide, the current state of the world, street harassment, identity, necromancy, and relationships with lyrics full of heart and rage as well as paying tribute to a local diner and the legend of Crustpunk Santa. We caught up with the band to hear the stories behind each of the ten tracks. Trans Panic will be playing PDX Punkmas on December 13 at Hallowed Halls in Portland, with all profits going to a charity that helps queer youth. Check out Songs for Tranarchists and read Trans Panic’s track-by-track breakdown below!

Billy Bragg releases new song

Billy Bragg has released a new song called “Put Christ Back Into Christmas”. Bragg released a statement about the song which reads, ”The far-right attention seeker who calls himself Tommy Robinson is trying to introduce Christian nationalism into the UK, holding a carol service in central London on Saturday 13th December under the slogan "Putting Christ Back Into Christmas". He told his followers that this involves "drawing attention to unchecked immigration and the fading of our cultural heritage”. Stand Up To Racism and Care 4 Calais are organising a counter-rally at 1pm on Saturday outside Downing Street. I'll be there to sing a few songs. Here's one I've just written to remind Tommy and his mates of the true meaning of Christmas, utilising the tune of the Scottish folk song 'Come All Ye Tramps and Hawkers’.”This is his second single to be released so far this year and follows September's "Hundred Year Hunger". Billy Bragg released his most recent album The Million Things That Never Happened in 2021. Check out the song below.

Year in ReView: Vanyaland’s 12 months of comedy faves in 2025

Another year, another hell ride through a cultural landscape that devoured and reproduced at an alarming rate in 2025. Through all the “unprecedented times” that we’re all tired of living in, to the birth of “6-7!” (whatever the fuck that means), and everything in between, one constant that kept us afloat was the levity, and often times societal mirror check that comedy offered to the masses. With a little bit of everything for everyone, the world of stand-up was stretched, […]

Year in ReView: Vanyaland’s favorite 617 Q&A recommendations

One of the best parts of the 617 Q&A series (Six Questions; One Recommendation; Seven Somethings) is the one recommendation portion. Typically, if we haven’t flipped them already with our somewhat standard interview portion, it’s when the artist really comes alive and often provides some deeper insight into what they’re buzzing about off the stage as we ask them to tell us what they’ve been into recently that isn’t their current project. Over the years, we’ve had some doozies, from […]
