The Vacant Lots keep us on the dance floor with ‘Thank You’

There aren’t many good reasons to dance these days, but The Vacant Lots are doing their best to keep us on the floor. The Brooklyn post-punk/synth-pop duo hit today (August 9) with a seductive beat machine crusher called “Thank You”, the type of song you make out with a stranger to in some dark toilet stall, and it arrives just as the Lots hit the road for a North American tour with The Black Angels this fall, and unleash the […]

Elizabeth delivers a ‘Sweet Connection’ just when we need it most

Australian singer-songwriter Elizabeth is billed as the “beloved patron saint of sad girls,” and that’s certainly enough to catch our faded attention as we wade through the never-ending pit of misery that is the month of August. This week, she serves up “Sweet Connection,” the second installment of the Melbourne artist’s three-part Suite of Singles, released via Our Golden Friend/AntiFragile Music and co-written and produced by Alice Ivy. Perhaps arriving when we need it most, the effortlessly floating “Sweet Connection” a magnetic […]

Tom A. Smith continues living his breakout truth on ‘EP2’

Back in December we slotted Tom A. Smith as one of 2022’s breakout performers, and here we are months later watching the artist living his truth. The teenage wonder from Sunderland dropped his second EP this past Friday (August 5) in the appropriately titled EP2, and it continues upward momentum for the skilled British songwriter who has not only become a bit of a press and radio darling back in the homeland, but was also selected by Elton John to […]

The Big Pink channel a Los Angeles kind of ‘Rage’ alongside Ryn Weaver

After a decade away, The Big Pink returned to our hearts and mixtapes back in April with a noisy fuss of a stomp-along single called “No Angels.” Today (August 8), the revitalized project from frontman and co-founder Robbie Furze hits us with word of a new album in The Love That’s Ours, out September 30 via Project Melody Music. The new LP, the band’s first since 2012’s Future This, is fueled by a summer lullaby track titled “Rage,” co-written by […]
