Winnipeg based Vagina Witchcraft have announced that they will be breaking up after five years together. The band released a statement on Instagram that reads, "When we started this project, we had goals in mind: to provide an inclusive space for people to thrash, have fun, and to play music that soothed our souls in the process. We’ve come to a point where we all want different things in our lives. Unfortunately we had to make the excruciatingly difficult choice to disband. If you have ever come to one of our shows, you know that bipoc will always be called to the front, because it was finally time to see people that reflect our society in our audience. The minorities, the queers, the weirdos. Y’all have been by us since the beginning. Truly, thank you for giving us a chance to play music, and thank you for listening, and for validating the experiences, tragedy, and redemption that came with it. We will never forget you. We will always love you. We will forever remember this experience as a life changing one. thank you for giving us a chance. thank you for accepting a bunch of rejects from a small Canadian prairie city. this experience has changed us. We hope we left our mark. – Dylan, Seppel, Kayla & Julien." Vagina Witchcraft released their self-titled album in 2020 that went on to be long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize in 2021.

A few weeks back we played a fun game at Boston Calling, eyeballing those who maybe didn’t know that Djo up there playing the Delta Airlines Blue Stage on Sunday was, in fact, Joe Keery of Stranger Things, and waiting for that wonderful moment of realization. But most folx assembled to catch his set were already quite privy, and how could they not? The Newburyport native first surfaced on our pages with Chicago psych-rock band Post Animal, but has since […]

On July 23, Rage Against The Machine was playing Toronto. While the band was playing "Killing int he Name," an attendee jumped the barricade and ran across the stage. Security guards took off in hot pursuit. As they attempted to take down the stage jumper, the guards accidentally slammed into Tom Morello, knocking him down. Zach de la Rocha paused the band, who then, after re-setting, continued the concert. At an earlier tour stop, De la Rocha injured his leg, requiring him to be seated for the remaining performances.

Everyone assumed that Marvel would save all of their huge announcements for D23, the Disney-centric festival put on the Mouse each year, which will take place in just a month or two in Anaheim. But even the best assumptions can be dead fucking wrong, and Kevin Feige took the stage at Hall H on Saturday to give fans a long-term view of the MCU’s future, like a CEO confronting his shareholders at a quarterly meeting (and that’s essentially what these […]

Comic-Con is always about managing fan expectations, and boy howdy did the internet run wild guessing at what surprises DC and Warner Bros. might bring with them to Hall H this year. Shazam: Fury of the Gods and Black Adam were the only two films listed on the slate, but folks couldn’t stop guessing what else might accompany them: would we see footage from Aquaman 2? The Flash? Maybe get an announcement about The Batman 2 or one of the […]
