Greetings, and welcome to the Dying Scene Record Radar. If it’s your first time here, thank you for joining us! This is the weekly* column where we cover all things punk rock vinyl; new releases, reissues… you name it, we’ve probably got it. Kick off your shoes, pull up a chair, crack open a cold one, and break out those wallets, because it’s go time. Let’s get into it!
Check out the video edition of this week’s Record Radar, presented by Punk Rock Radar:

Loyal readers of the Record Radar may have noticed my absence the last few weeks, as I was leaving my beloved Sunshine State to move halfway across the country to Texas. In other words, I’ve got some catching up to do, starting with these big time Frenzal Rhomb reissues! Meet the Family and Not So Tough Now are both back in print for the first time in a long-ish time, and 1994’s Dick Sandwich EP is being released on vinyl for the first time ever. The color variants in the picture are available to pre-order from SBAM’s UK store and EU store. Our friends at Double Helix Records have some US-exclusive variants of Meet the Family and Not So Tough Now as well.

And because you can never have enough Frenzal Rhomb, here’s another yuge reissue from the Rhomb! A Man’s Not A Camel is being reissued in honor of its 25th anniversary (though technically the album is 26 this year ☝🤓) and you can get it now on emerald green and/or black vinyl right here. You may also notice the cover art is updated – and shittier! Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.

The unlikely duo of MxPx and Direct Hit have teamed up for this split 7″ featuring the two bands’ kinda sorta unique takes on the same song. Available on two color variants – Javascript Splatter (black w/ mint green splatter) and Bionary Blue Splatter (transparent ice blue w/ black splatter) – on the MxPx Merch Arsenal.

Barcelona skate punks Fastloud‘s brand new album Rice Again!? is out now and available on three stunning vinyl color variants on the Punk Rock Radar webstore. These beauties are limited to 100 copies each, and you can also get them from Cat’s Claw Records in the UK, High End Denim Records in Canada, Morning Wood Records in the Netherlands, and in Spain from 20 Chords Records and Picnic Records. MR. WORLDWIDE!

The Offspring’s Americana has a new color variant – probably its 500th – limited to 500 copies on Red Smoke colored vinyl. Not much to say about this one! Get it here.

Dutch pop-punk favorites (they’re my favorite!) The Windowsill are reissuing their 2011 self-titled debut album. The record has been remastered and you can get it on two very limited color variants from Stardumb Records (EU), Brassneck Records (UK), The Machine Shop (US), and Endless Detention Records (AUS).

More Dutch pop-punk! The Apers’ 2003 album The Buzz Electric is back in print on this beautiful red w/ black smoke color variant with matching cover art. Once again, you can grab this one from Stardumb Records (EU), Brassneck Records (UK), The Machine Shop (US), and Endless Detention Records (AUS).

Kalamazoo, Michigan sci-fi / horror punk masters the Zoanoids are releasing a new compilation LP Grave Transmissions, featuring tracks from 7″ singles, splits, comps, etc. plus a brand new song called “Arecibo Incoming” and a couple other rarities. You can listen to the whole thing on their Bandcamp right now and pre-order it on beautiful clear(?) w/ purple splatter colored vinyl right here.

The most bad ass 90’s punk band to form in Maine and retire to Massachusetts, Doc Hopper’s 1996 album Zigs, Yaws & Zags is being released on vinyl for the first time ever thanks to Dead Broke Rekerds! Limited to 105 copies on Tangerine Dream colored vinyl and 210 copies on black wax. Featuring two bonus tracks – “Coffee Jerk” & “Turtleheadin”. Get it here!

Boston’s Moving Targets have a new record called Red Eyes due out July 25th. Get it from Dead Broke in the US, Coretex Records in the UK, and Waterslide Records in Japan. Check out the awesome lead single “Saw Too Much” down below 👇

Hailing from Pinellas County (the place I called home for the last 29 years 😢), St. Pete’s Lot Lizards are releasing their new album The Horrors of Adulting on July 25th. Check out the killer new single “Surprise Party” below and pre-order the record on five (5) beautiful color variants from our friends at Punkerton Records.

SBAM Records is releasing South Korean punk 3-piece Rumkicks’ super fun new album Hit A Nerve on vinyl – and CD! Available in the US, UK, and Europe right here.

You may recall The Flatliners’ Destroy to Create got a 20th anniversary reissue last year. Now its back with a new variant – green marble! – limited to 200 copies. Get it here.

As you’ve probably already heard, New Found Glory’s got a new single out and it’s getting a 7″ release on Pure Noise Records. Check out “100%” below and grab it on three color variants (with a screen printed B Side?) right here.

Moral Less Right’s new 7″ Oubaitori is a must-grab for fans of lightning fast melodic skate punk. Young-gun drum phenom Sarah Lynn is manning the throne on this 2-song EP, available on vinyl right here.

The Punk Rock Museum has announced the second installment in its Original Demos series, with a 10″ record featuring never before released RKL demos from 1993 and 95. You can get All Washed Up, But Still Stinkin’! on three color variants from The Punk Rock Museum’s online store. There are two variants exclusive to the museum’s on-site record store Vinyl Threat, including a “Jason Sears Memorial Version” filled with the singer’s ashes (this seems to be a somewhat troubling theme lately with these boutique variants).

People of Punk Rock Records is releasing Japanese skate punks Stone Leek’s 2022 album Revival on vinyl for the first time, limited to 100 copies on Cherry Red colored wax. Get it here!

Walt Hamburger has joined forces with Mike Erg, Neil Hennessy (The Lawrence Arms), Jon Snodgrass, and Asher Simon (Joey Cape’s Bad Loud) on his new album …And Louie!, due out June 20th on Thousand Islands Records and Bearded Punk Records. Check out the new single “Insolence” below and grab the record on two color variants right here.

The cassette format makes its triumphant return to the Record Radar with Tapehead City’s reissue of Operation Ivy’s Hectic EP – on cassette for the first time ever! Limited to 1,000 copies on fancy UV printed tapes (not sure what that means but it looks cool!). Get it here.

ANOTHER CASSETTE! Spanish melodic punks Blowfuse may be throwing in the towel, but they’re going out with a bang, releasing a bad ass 4-song EP called Hard to Be Thrilled. Check out the killer opening track “On A Roll” below and grab the cassette – limited to 100 copies – right here. And if you’re in Spain, catch the band’s farewell shows in Madrid and Barcelona.

Asian Man Records is reissuing The Honor System’s two LPs Single File and Rise and Run, along with their 100% Synthetic EP (now called 110% Synthetic and featuring a bunch of bonus tracks). Get ’em here.
Well, that’s all, folks. Another Record Radar in the books. As always, thank you for tuning in. If there’s anything we missed (highly likely), or if you want to let everyone know about a new/upcoming vinyl release you’re excited about, leave us a comment below, or send us a message on Facebook or Instagram, and we’ll look into it. Enjoy your weekend, and don’t blow too much money on spinny discs (or do, I’m not your father). See ya next time!
