Year in ReView: Vanyaland’s 12 months of comedy favorites in 2024

After many attempts to figure out just where the hell this year went, we decided to end our search and instead offer up what we remember most fondly about 2024 as part of our annual Year in ReView festivities. Which, in regards to the vast array of comedy releases, was plenty to keep us afloat as we maneuvered the hell ride that was the past 12 months. However, as we quickly discovered, it’s nearly impossible to narrow down the landscape […]

The pride of Yorkshire, England, melodic punk four piece Bear Away just released bad ass (British translation: bloody good!) new single called “Slow Nothing”. The band also just returned from a little vacation in the Sunshine State, where they played a few shows – most notably The Fest! – and also, coincidentally recorded a music video for their new single.

We (DyingScene.com) are hosting the exclusive premiere for the music video, which I advise you to scroll down the page and check out! Also here’s a quote from an unnamed member of the band Bear Away, regarding their new single “Slow Nothing”:

“Slow Nothing is about waking up from a dream in which you die, or nearly die, and that feeling following you for the next few days, almost to the point where you wonder if you did die in the dream and what you’re experiencing now is just the final flickerings of your brain. Fun, right? I’d been listening to the new Alkaline Trio album a lot, that probably explains it.”

A few bits of housekeeping before I let you go: Bear Away released an album on Sell the Heart Records in 2022! It’s called A Drastic Tale of Western Living and you can (and should) buy it on vinyl and/or CD right here. They were also featured on a bad ass Fest 22 compilation LP co-released by Sell The Heart and Iodine Recordings, which you can purchase on many different color variants here. And of course you’ll want to follow the band on their socials and all that to stay in the know about what they’ve got coming up. That’s it! You’re free to go.

This premiere is brought to you in part by Punk Rock Radar. If you’d like your band’s music video to be premiered by Dying Scene and Punk Rock Radar, go here and follow these instructions. You’ll be on your way to previously unimagined levels of fame and fortune in no time.

‘The Brutalist’ Review: A case of catastropic structural failure

Brady Corbet has all the things you need to be a great filmmaker. He’s technically precise — his shots are frequently brilliantly composed, and his blocking is genuinely solid — and he casts his films appropriately (except for Natalie Portman in Vox Lux). Corbet’s command of tone is also impressive: You inhabit the settings of his films as much as the characters do, enveloped in the mood. Moreover, he’s fucking ambitious, and financiers/distributors have been more than willing to indulge […]
