NEW MUSIC: Ways Away drop video for new track, “I Should Have Brought A Gun”

One of yours truly’s favorite bands to have materialized over the last few years is the California-based supergroup Ways Away, and yes I know the term “supergroup” gets thrown around liberally at times but seriously, it’s Jesse Barnett from Stick To Your Guns and Sergie Loobkoff from Samiam and Knapsack and Jared Shavelson from Paint […]

One of yours truly’s favorite bands to have materialized over the last few years is the California-based supergroup Ways Away, and yes I know the term “supergroup” gets thrown around liberally at times but seriously, it’s Jesse Barnett from Stick To Your Guns and Sergie Loobkoff from Samiam and Knapsack and Jared Shavelson from Paint It Black and BoySetsFire and Joyce Manor (and Seal) and Chad Darby from Samiam and The Ship Thieves, so what the heck else are we supposed to call it?!

ANYWAY, the band dropped a video for a brand new track, “I Should Have Brought A Gun.” As of now, it’s a stand-alone track, but word on the street is there’s more new music coming down the ‘pike, so stay tuned. Check the video out below, and if it’s your first time checking out Ways Away, familiarize yourself with their back catalog here. It’s great.

This Show Is Tonight: Casey Crawford pushes ‘record’ in Somerville

Aside from what has become his signature look of wearing a beanie on stage, Casey Crawford wears many hats. With years of accolades to his credit, including […]

Body Counts covers Pink Floyd with David Gilmour

Body Count have released a new single… and it's a Pink Floyd cover… and it has Floyd's David Gilmour ripping on the guitar! "Comfortably Numb" is off of the upcoming allbum Merciless. That's out November 22. You can check out the tune below. In a statement, Gilmour even says he'd be up for playing with the band live. He said: " “Body Count's version of Comfortably Numb is quite radical, but the words really struck me. It astonishes me that a tune I wrote almost 50 years ago is back with this great new approach. They've made it relevant again. The initial contact from Ice-T was for permission to use the song, but I thought I might offer to play on it as well. I like the new lyrics, they're talking about the world we’re living in now, which is quite scary. Ice-T and Body Count played in London recently, sadly I couldn't make it, but if another opportunity came up to play with them, I'd jump at it.”

Morrissey fires his management

Morrissey took a few hits this week. Over the past month, Moz stated that Johnny marr ignored a Smiths reunion offer and that Marr registered The Smiths trademark in order to claim ownership of the band name. Well, earlier this week Marr stated that he did not ignore the Smiths offer, he turned it down. Also, according to Marr, he wanted Morrissey to go in 50/50 on the trademark registration, but it was Morrissey who ignored Marr's messages. Researched conducted by Punknews determined that at least the second issue at hand was likely accurate as per Marr's description and that Morrissey was, uh, "misinformed."Today, Morrissey issued another statement. This one was very short. He has fired his management, which he has had for less than a year. He said: "Morrissey has severed all connections with Red Light Management/Pete Galli Management." We'll keep you updated.

‘The Substance’ Review: A gross-out masterpiece

I don’t know how ready American audiences may be for Coralie Fargeat’s The Substance, given that it’s perhaps the most European depiction of our culture to hit screens with this much buzz in a long, long time. That is to say that you’re less likely to get grossed out by the ample amounts of body horror – which, to be fair, are classically Cronenbergian in their sensibility and executed perfectly – but more by a scene in which Dennis Quaid, […]
