Temples deliver joy in a soulless world with ‘Jet Stream Heart’

The world is increasingly fucked with each minute that passes every hour, personal pressures mount among skyscraping snowbanks in a Market Basket parking lot, and our brains are continuously swimming in a warm soup made from our own gel of discomfort. But Temples are back to make it seem like that’s all part of the plan? The British indie-psych pirates have stirred up a rousing fit of sonic wizardry, stoping with us along to the looney bin through hypnotic new […]

The Last Gang cancel upcoming European tour

The Last Gang have announced the cancellation of their upcoming European tour dates. The shows were set to start in May and run through June. The band released a statement on Instagram that reads, ”We are extremely gutted to announce we will no longer be performing in Europe this coming May and June. With the increasing costs and our recent US tour canceling, we have no other option but to cancel our planned upcoming tour. We want to apologize first and foremost to City Rat, who worked tirelessly to get this tour put together. We also want to apologize to Pit Rock Fest, Sick Family Fest, SBAM Fest, SBSC Fest, Youth Brigade Fest, and Farewell Youth Fest. We hope that in the future we can return strong and perform for you all. Lastly we want to apologize to our fans. Most of you know that this is our life; we are heavily reliant on the financial aspect of all these things working out. Meaning it carries more weight than just a fun time for us. We tirelessly put in efforts in this band to give you the best tours, best shows, and best time for that 30 minutes to an hour we perform. We have let you down, and we hope to make it up to you sometime soon. Thank you.” The Last Gang released their album Obscene Daydreams in 2024. Check out the statement below.

Nekromantix drop off Punk in the Park

It has been a bumpy few weeks for Punk in the Park. About two weeks ago, Naked Aggression dropped off the Punk ion the park roadshow. The band took this action because it was revealed last year that the founder had donated to the Trump campaign. Earlier this week, Dead Kennedys released a statement that said they will play the current Pitp, but would not play the event in the future. Jello Biafra criticized his former band's statement. Following that, Manic Hispanic dropped off the road show as well. Now, Nekromantix have also dropped off their slated date. The band stated simply, "Nekromantix will not be performing at the Punk in the park event on May 23, in Vallejo CA." You can see the statement below. PitP has not issued a statement about the lineup changes, yet.

The V List: Five of our favorite tracks from February 2026

Editor’s Note: Anyone who says there isn’t good music coming out these days — and quite literally, every day — simply isn’t paying attention. Vanyaland’s compilation feature The V List highlights the best in new music, both homegrown and national, over the past month, pulling together the sounds that have soundtracked the website in recent weeks. It’s all the stuff we’re bumping here at Vanyaland HQ, one new bop at a time. Valencia Grace, ‘Lucky You’re A Star’ Few may realize it right now, but Valencia Grace had a massive […]

Interviews: Talking 'LIFE OF AN ANGEL' with Angel Girl and Sara of Angel Girl

Angel Girl released one of the most electrifying debut EPs of the year on Valentine’s Day. LIFE OF AN ANGEL finds the Halifax-based punk rock quartet channelling their high-octane energy into five tracks that will have you opening a pit in no time. Whether the band are re-recording previously released demos, like “CUTE” (which was originally released in the earliest iteration of the project, when it was lead vocalist (and band's namesake) Angel Girl and guitarist Katie Wayne) and “PINK TAX”, or showcasing a more collaborative sound on new songs like “PRINCESS” and “LIFE OF AN ANGEL”, the love they have for the music shines through. LIFE OF AN ANGEL is eight minutes of pure catharsis and is available digitally now. Angel Girl will be playing the Femme Them Skate Jam at The Hub in Dartmouth on March 15 with Loviet, Book Buddies, and Jade Bennett. Punknews editor Em Moore caught up with Angel Girl and drummer Sara Martin to talk about the EP, recording in a converted church, navigating touring as queer musicians, the power of friendship and eyeshadow, and so much more. Read the interview below! This interview between Em Moore, Angel Girl, and Sara Martin took place over Zoom on February 19, 2025. What follows is a transcription of their conversation that has been lightly edited for length and clarity.
