Listen to The Soviet Influence's new covers record and read the track-by-track breakdown!

Today we are thrilled to bring you the premiere of the new covers record by Southern Ontario punk band The Soviet Influence! It is called Post Punk For The Future and features covers of songs by Joy Division, The Clash, REM, Talking Heads, and U2. Speaking about how the idea came about Peter Snow said, "The essential idea is to cover songs by well-known groups in the late 70's and early 80's post-punk/alternative scene. We tried to pick songs that weren't as popular or famous." We caught up with Peter to hear about what the songs mean to the band and why they chose to cover them specifically. Listen to the record and read the track-by-track below!

DJ Fab collects Boston’s varied ‘LUV.’ songs on new album

If you took the rom-com Valentine’s Day, swapped the cast for a cavalcade of Boston musicians, and flipped the script into 10 songs, the result would look something like DJ Fab’s new album LUV. The area DJ and producer — who radio listeners might recognize as a mixshow DJ for JAM’N 94.5 — collects the many ways romance can manifest on his new project, which arrived last week (March 15). LUV. splits its titular concept into nearly a dozen different […]

This song will be on the band’s upcoming EP Deathbed, due out April 9th on High End Denim Records. Here’s what they had to say about the track:

“Our first song in a decade and long overdue, “Don’t Forget Me” will kick off our new EP and set the tone for some of the overall themes listeners will hear throughout. Where are we headed? Where have we been? From sunrise to the sunset, how will we be contributing to our legacy each day? We try to balance the emotional lyrics against catchy guitar riffs, intense vocal harmonies, driving and creative bass and drums.”

Pre-save the EP here and head on over to highenddenimrecords.com to learn more.

Cold Cave return to the shadows of the dark disco with ‘She Reigns Down’

Over the past 15-plus years or so, Cold Cave have constantly reshaped the sound and aesthetics of modern post-punk and darkwave, providing a black-lit compass for an infinite wave of new acts that revived the genre with a converging influx of goth and synth-pop components. Recent years have found Wes Eisold’s project touring with Depeche Mode and The Cult while re-issuing their early work (what’s the underground’s equivalent of Back To The Future’s “I guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet, but […]

We’ll admit that we don’t know too much about Siouxie & the Skunks beyond the rather peculiar moniker, and that by itself is a relatively exciting thing in our age of information overload. But what we do know is this: The Italian art-punk band is set to release new album called Songs about Cuddles next week (March 23) via Wild Honey Records, and with it comes a stomper of a serrated smoke dance in “Sartoria” that sounds like the greatest […]
