Random Cover Song: Reel Big Fish covers Poison’s “Talk Dirty To Me” with Tatiana DeMaria (TAT)

Cover songs are like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get.  We here at Dying Scene love hearing punk bands do their own take on other band’s songs.  Sometimes they pull off amazing interpretations of old classics, sometimes they’re not much more than humble tributes to a fellow artist, and other times they’re just downright laughable renditions of otherwise great songs.  Good or bad.  Intriguing or mundane.  We’ll let you be the judge.

Both the ska genre as a whole and OC band Reel Big Fish have no shortage of 80’s cover songs. At one cover  every week, it would probably take us a full year to show you all of them. But the band’s cover of Poison’s “Talk Dirty To Me” stands out among the rest, mainly because it features Tatiana DeMaria (TAT), the hottest chick in metal, singing and talking dirty in the background.

The song was originally released on Poison’s 1986 album “Look What The Cat Dragged In,” and the Reel Big Fish version appeared on their 2009 cover album “Fame, Fortune, and Fornication.” Interesting side note: Frontman Aaron Barrett intended for that album to be an all-Poison cover album (as the album cover might suggest), but the rest of the band told him no (a good call, if you ask me).

Check out both versions here.
