Sources, including Ultimate-Guitar.com and Idioteq.com, are reporting that a Danzig fan named Smokin’ Johnny has created a petition called “Danzig: Get the original lineup back together!”, asking fans to help bring that lineup back together, even for a 25th anniversary tour next year to commemorate the release of their self-titled debut album. If you want to see a reunion tour of the original lineup, go here to sign.
You can read Smokin’ Johnny’s reason why the original lineup should reunite here.
Danzig’s original lineup, which many consider a “classic”, consisted of Glenn Danzig on vocals, John Christ on guitar, Eerie Von on bass and Chuck Biscuits on drums. Together, they recorded four albums as well the 1993 half-live and half-studio EP Thrall: Demonsweatlive. Biscuits left Danzig in 1994, just prior to the release of the “4” album, while Christ and Von would both left the band in July of the following year.
“Everything Glenn Danzig made after he fired his former Danzig bandmates after the ‘4’ album has been boring, lame, and, at times, garbage. It’s time for a change. Like Glenn, three of the members of the original lineup (John Christ, Eerie Von and Chuck Biscuits) are consummate professionals, all have a massive international following, and are extraordinary musicians. It’s about time for a change to come.
The original Danzig lineup deserves to get back together. It’s been 17 years since three out of four of the members moved on to their own lives. They all helped shape the rest of the ’80s and most of the ’90s and helped revive my music after I first listened to them.
My goal is to recruit as many members to the petition as possible in order to get Glenn to listen to what we have to say. We want the lineup that made popular songs like ‘Mother’, ‘Twist Of Cain’ and ‘Dirty Black Summer’ back! We would all love to see a reunion tour happen.
The second goal is to get John, Eerie and Chuck back together, that way Glenn can forgive them. This may sound a little silly or whatever, but the Danzig band is just not the same without those guys. Oh, and for those of you who are wondering, Chuck is not dead.
And last but not least, 2013 will be the 25th anniversary of the first Danzig album. John, Eerie and Chuck should join Glenn if there will be an anniversary tour.“
