Video: The Scandals frontman Jared Hart plays acoustic version of “Allnighters”

Earlier this year, Jared Hart from New Jersey punk band The Scandals released an acoustic split with The Gaslight Anthem‘s Brian Fallon. More recently, Mr. Hart stopped by Bouncing Souls guitarist Pete Steeinkopf’s Little Eden recording studio in Asbury Park to record a stripped-down acoustic session for the Red Bull Music Channel (full performance premiering tomorrow, Dec. 6th).

Here’s what he had to say about the experience:

“Recording at Little Eden was sort of unreal. It’s a place that houses a band that, growing up, was so important and influential to us. Then we had the chance to run the same lines and the same amps as the Bouncing Souls. You really can’t help feeling overly creative in that space – it just overflows.

With Brian and Pete, they both get it. They understand and get it in the same way that we do, with what’s going on within the realm of our genre today. They are in it for the long haul, and to share a mutual respect for the work that they do, as well as what we do, is something I value greatly.”

You can watch a video of Jared performing an acoustic rendition of The Scandals’ song “Allnighters” at Pete’s studio below.

The original, full-band version of the track appeared on The Scandals’ “Trenchknife” EP, which was released (for free download) in 2012 on Death To False Hope Records.

“The song was kind of an accident. It was my second year in college, and each line is from a different time and representing a different thing that was going on, so it really encompasses a whole period of time in my life. It has this nostalgic feeling of this time and place for me.”
