Visa Application for Ska Nation: The Kamikaze Thundercats

Visa Application for Ska Nation: The Kamikaze Thundercats

Ok, folks.  We’re in the home stretch.  The countdown to Ska Nation is on and we’ve let a stack of bands enter our party nation in the lead-up to the event.  The second last band that we bring you are The Kamikaze Thunderkats.  Hailing from the north New South Wales coast, they’ve got some pretty clever answers to our questions.  Check out their application here.

Why don’t you tell us you are coming to Ska Nation on Facebook and don’t forget to pick up tickets here.

Who are you and what do you what do you have to offer our party nation?

Howdy! I’m Callan and we’re The Kamikazi Thunderkats. Aside from trafficking exotic spices, Egyptian cotton and goods from across the sea, we also play ska/punk music. Which is pretty handy.

How many people are included on this application and what are their duties?

We’ve got seven people and two Guinea Pigs in the band at the moment, including two trumpets, a trombone, vocals and your standard rock triad. To be honest, I’m considering cutting a couple of people for the Guinea Pigs. They eat much less, don’t require seats on the plane, keep their mouths shut and still rock out on stage. That’s professionalism, folks.

Before we approve any application we need to know what your cultural fit would be.  What are your top 3 Ska albums of all time and why?

In no particular order: Reel Big Fish’s “Why Do They Rock So Hard,” Fishbone’s “Truth and Soul” and Sublime’s self titled.

Where do you currently reside and what makes this place, “the place to be” in your eyes?

We currently reside on the North Coast, stretched between the Ballina/Byron Bay/Lismore areas. If I were a surfer, retired or enjoyed hiking, then this would be the place to be. Unfortunately, I enjoy none of these things.

Name three things you won’t come into the (Ska) Nation without?

1.  Instruments

2.  Clothes

3.  Faces

If you saw the gent pictured below walking down the street, what would be the first thing to come to your mind?

“How is that 2D man able to stand in this wind?”

(Ska) Nation we take the security of our commodities very seriously.  On a scale of 1 to Navy Seal Team 6, just how much of a security risk are you to the Nation’s beer supply?

I was going to say that we don’t drink, but that’s something too serious to joke about. Instead, I’ll answer in the form of a haiku:

“You would lock the bar

If you were a smarter man

I’m a raging drunk.”

Please disclose one piece of information that your mother wouldn’t know about you.

This seems to have strayed from the topic of the band a little, doesn’t it?

Who do you most want to see when you enter (Ska) Nation?

Band-wise, I’ve been on a big Planet Smashers binge lately and really enjoyed the new album. If I can get to Saturday’s show, I’ve always wanted to see Area-7 too, and The Fun Addicts are friends of ours from Brisbane.
People-wise, what are the chances of a few celebrity sightings? Everyone was looking for Kate Moss at Splendour this year …

Are there any other things you’d like us to consider when processing your application?

We’ve just put together a music video for our single, ‘Zombie Taco.’ We’re very proud of it, and with a few friends put it all together ourselves.

Because they’ve got one of the best band names on the whole bill we hereby declare…
