Denver based ska troupe People Corrupting People is back with the latest installment of their Animal Farm Chronicles series. The newest six track EP, entitled Red Herring is the the sixth in the series and keeps the anti-capitalist, anti-establishment theme alive! When we talked to the band about the recording process, they told us: “We had originally planned to book  time at our old studio, Ocean Tides Audio, but life got in the way in a hurry and we had to go a different route. Enter: (guitarist/vocals) Nate Nepsky – new producer/sound engineer/pretty much everything on this record. It was his virgin voyage, only ever having recorded years ago using a shitty laptop and Garage Band. Things have changed. Now, he has a shitty PC console and Ableton live. Literally everything you hear was recorded, mixed and mastered in Nate’s bedroom, and he doesn’t have fuck all knowledge of what he’s doing.” Well, if that doesn’t personify the punk rock, DIY work ethic, we don’t know what does! Check out the debut track “He Dwells Within” (featuring members of The Bourbon Brawlers), below!

Settle Your Scores premiere music video for “Stuck in the Suburbs” off latest album, “Better Luck Tomorrow”

Hey Scenesters, got some time to sit and ponder? Well, we’ve got some distraction for you. Hey Scenesters, got some time to sit and ponder? Well, we’ve got some distraction for you. Cincinnati pop-punk natives, Settle Your Scores‘ new album is doing well and the band has released a new video for their hit single “Stuck in the Suburbs”. It’s a song for anyone who’s ever made the seemingly erroneous claim that, “There’s gotta be more to life than paying bills and waiting to die.”  Settle Your Scores is out to feel alive.

These heavy pop-punk Ohioans have been busy living it up, touring and showcasing their bouncy breakdowns across America, electrifying captive audiences and regaling in the studio about time spent, and time that could have been better spent, “looking back to when I had a perfect shot and didn’t take it.” And if the bands energy in stereo didn’t speak for itself, they’ve decided to impart the highlights of their live performance on us via the magic of motion pictures.  “I wanna do more than just survive. I wanna feel alive,” front-man Christian Fisher bears it all, high-points and maladies, while his friends all hang around and kick it in the pit… and there’s fire.

The album, Better Luck Tomorrow is out now on Sharp Tone Records, available for streaming and purchase here. It is Settle Your Scores’ first full length since 2016’s well-received The Wilderness which saw the band  singing praises as “Underachiever of the Year”. Stream the music video for “Stuck in the Suburbs” below. [Read more…]

I was a total music nerd when I was a kid. I listened to absolutely nothing except golden oldies and Weird Al until I was in high school. I stumbled onto punk rock when I was 15 and considered myself musically “cool” but now that I think about it, starting a punk music blog is pretty much the pinnacle of fanboy geekdom – so, still a music nerd it seems. But I digress. I was telling you about golden oldies. I never lost my love for the rock ‘n roll of the 60s, which is why Italy’s The Peawees are striking such a chord with me. These guys channel the greats like Elvis, Chuck Berry or Buddy Holly but do it with decidedly punk rock rock flare. They’re not “new”, they’ve been kicking around the punk scene since 1995 but they’re new to Dying Scene and on September 14th they’re dropping their new album “Moving Target” via Rum Bar Records. Put your dancing shoes on and give a couple of the tunes a listen here.
