311’s Nick Hexum recently spoke to Billboard.com about how this idea came together: “It was the Offspring’s idea, and a great idea. They said, ‘We had the idea to cover your song, and we’ve done it,’ and I was like, ‘Wow! I have to hear this,’ ’cause it’s such a signature song. Were they going to cover it faithfully or rework it?’ They reworked it just enough; There’s punk to it, and Dexter (Holland) actually does a killer job of rapping SA (Martinez)’s parts in more of a punk rock style, with fast drums. We were so blown away, It was so my fun to hear that. So we returned the favor and reggaefied (‘Self Esteem’), which is probably my favorite song of theirs. It’ll be a lot of fun to give the fans new versions of these songs they love so much.”
The Offspring’s first album since 2012’s Days Go By is tentatively due for release this year. 311 released their last record Mosaic a year ago and are reportedly working on new music.

While the album’s title is an obvious reference to the re-recording of the band’s iconic 1983 self-titled debut album, Still Cyco After All These Years (originally recorded in 1989 but not released until 1993), it is apparently a re-recording of frontman Mike “Cyco Miko” Muir’s 1996 solo debut album Lost My Brain! (Once Again) in its entirety. The record’s track listing is below.
Suicidal Tendencies released the EP Get Your Fight On! last March, and recently parted ways with Jeff Pogan, whose replacement is former Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman.

According to Jeff Rosenstock, “This is our fourth video that we’ve shot in DC and we love all the people who are in it. [Tourmates] Martha and Bad Moves make cameos. It reminds me of a classic video I would see on MTV when I was younger, but also kinda like that sick Grimes video where she’s at the football game with the boombox and the headphones.”

Alkaline Trio have just announced that they’ll be releasing a new album on August 31 (vinyl will be available October 5). “Is This Thing Cursed?” is the first new music in 5 years. According to Matt Skiba, “Some people thought we were done. We announced a tour and a lot of the shows are already sold out. Nobody knows that we made a new record. It’s not unlike getting somebody that you care about something extra super special for their birthday and you’re really excited to give it to them. It feels kind of like that.”
The three piece have also released a lyric video for one of the tracks off of the upcoming album, “Blackbird.”
