Watch this ‘Leave the World Behind’ trailer before the internet goes out

One of the funnier aspects of the Obamas’ post-presidency return to public life is the very existence of Higher Ground Productions, which is their production company that acts as a kind of feeder system for Netflix’s unending content churn. You probably know their output from their time with Spotify, when Barack and the Boss teamed up to… talk shop on a podcast, which is audio that we genuinely can’t believe exists, but they also acquire movies and make television shows […]

Watch the Specials, Aggrolites, and Bosstones honor Terry Hall!

Today, we are super duper psyched to bring you a video from the most recent Musack event! Musack raises money to benefit music education and every year they throw a show to help out the youth through music education programs and instrument donations. Founded on Nantucket by tv writer Donick Cary (Simpsons, Parks and Recreation, Have a Good Trip) after a rash of teen suicides in his former high school fifteen years ago, Musack has grown to support programs coast to coast and beyond, encouraging kids to share their voice through music. Earlier this month, Musack hosted a tribute to Terry Hall, the sadly departed singer of The Specials. As part of the event, a bunch of musicians got together to perform a moving version of the Special's classic, "Enjoy Yourself." The mega-group included Horace Panter (The Specials), Lynval Golding (The Specials), Hannah Hu (The Specials), Nikolaj Torp Larsen (The Specials), Kenrick Rowe (The Specials), Jesse Wagner (The Aggrolites), Nate Albert (Mighty Mighty Bosstones), JG Goetchius (Mighty Mighty Bosstones), Eitan Avineri (Western Standard Ska Orchestra), and Rob Verdugo (Western Standard Ska Orchestra). Get ready to cry. The video was shot and produced by Josh Roush, who wrote and directed the very cool punk movie Wrong Reasons. As a BONUS, we are pairing this video up with a video of the same song as performed by the specials at Musack in 2022- Terry Hall's last ever performance… backed by Tim Armstrong and members of The Interrupters! Now the waterworks are really turned up! If you want to see the true power of music, watch either of these videos! You can check out Musack here and see the videos below, right now!

Mic’d Up: Phoebe Robinson, Eric Neumann, Jay Larson, Dan Crohn

Editor’s Note: The vibes of football season, eating more apples off of trees than you actually pick, and what will inevitably be droves of I Think You Should Leave Halloween costumes (sexy pig with a Nixon mask, anyone?) are inching closer as we say goodbye to baseball season (at least when it comes our friendly neighborhood basement-dwelling Red Sox) and instead, usher in the early earmarks of the upcoming holidaze. However, live comedy is a four-season jamboree, and lucky for you, we’ve […]

This Show Is Tonight: Squirrel Flower brings ‘Tomorrow’s Fire’ to Allston

An ideal Tuesday night may not include quality time with rodents, but it probably should include Squirrel Flower. As a chill sets in across Boston and the leaves wither and fall, the rock-edged pop and cynical lyricism of Tomorrow’s Fire […]

Flat Party claim a voice of their own on the yearning ‘Glances In The Dark’

It’s a tale as old as time: A young band writes a cool new song, realizes it sounds like a Sonic Youth b-side, and abandons it until some time later when it gets revisited and fleshed out into something a little more pure. That seems to be at play with Flat Party’s new sonic seducer single “Glances In The Dark,” which hits the streams today (October 24) via Submarine Cat Records. And no, we didn’t just make up the Sonic Youth […]
