‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ Review: A long, slow, and complex masterpiece

Everyone has their favorite Martin Scorsese movie – I’m sure some motherfucker out there thinks The Aviator or Shine a Light is the bee’s knees – but it’s become clear the major fulcrum point of his career isn’t one of his early masterpieces or his late-career descents into postmodernism: It’s Goodfellas. Outside of his collaborations with Paul Schrader (and those films do, in fact, fit into the matrix that I’m trying to establish here, but less so), that classic made […]

Exclusive Videos: Watch the new video by Burnt Tapes!

Today we are stoked to bring you the premiere of the new video by London, UK-based punks Burnt Tapes! The song is for their new track “Little Sister” which features Hanna Hermione Greenwood of Creeper. The video was directed by Liam Pinheiro-Rogers, edited by Andreas Argyrou, and assistant produced by Yulet Gjurgji. Speaking about the song, lead vocalist and guitarist Phil L. said, ”’Little Sister’ is our first song in almost 3 years. It's a song set to the backdrop of the 2021 COVID lockdowns and tells a very personal tale of loneliness, depression, and family. At a stage where helplessness had taken over and the end was near in my head, my little sister was there for me, took me in, and saved me in many ways. So the song is a tribute to her, to all those close to us who have been there when the days were dark, and a reminder that we don't have to and should never suffer in silence. From the get go, we wanted to get a guest vocalist on the track to in many ways represent my sister singing alongside me. We recorded this track at the incredible Ranch Studios, where Creeper have recorded in the past and we were lucky enough that Hannah heard the song, liked it and agreed to come on board. We're huge fans, and it's come out better than we could have imagined, so stoked to have made it happen.” ”Little Sister” is out digitally now via Wiretap Records and Lockjaw Records. Burnt Tapes will be touring the US later this month. Check out the video and dates below!

Interview: Martin Johnson on the revival of Boys Like Girls

Anyone who didn’t think we’d ever get a new Boys Like Girls album would be instantly forgiven. It’s been 11 years since the Boston pop-rock band last released a record, in 2012’s Crazy World, and even longer since Martin Johnson and the boys first broke out of New England on the strength of vibrant 2006 single “The Great Escape.” With uncertainty around the band over the past decade, and a few one-off gigs along the way, the Andover-born Johnson has […]
