DZ Deathrays unleash a royal rock and roll fuzz with ‘King B’

Prepare for a tidal wave of royal fuzz: DZ Deathrays have unleashed a whipping new single called “King B,” and with its release last week, the Australian trio hope to deliver an “epic force of motion.” Mission accomplished. “I wanted a party song,” says frontman Shane Parsons. “I wanted a track that was about getting people together and feeling the energy of that. Then one day it all came flowing to me in about 10 minutes. ‘King B’ was the […]

Tanlines return with a redefined perfection on ‘Outer Banks’

Interviews: Toni and Mike of The Abruptors talk their new album 'Noticeably Cheerless'

After a long journey filled with vinyl pressing delays, The Abruptors are just one day away from releasing their much-anticipated album Noticeably Cheerless. Their second album sees the Buffalo-based band perfecting their soulful ska sound as they dive deep into anxiety, depression, loneliness, and the process of rebuilding life after major life changes with honest lyrics and a healthy dose of hope. The Abruptors will be touring the US and Canada with The Slackers in April and Noticeably Cheerless will be out everywhere on February 24 via Asian Man Records (and you can pre-save it here). Punknews editor Em Moore caught up with co-vocalists Mike Geraci (who also plays guitar) and Toni LaMantia (who also plays keys and saxophone) over Zoom to talk about the new album, the evolution of the band, therapy goats, Schitt’s Creek, and so much more. Read the interview below!

Graveyard of the Atlantic rock the boat with a pair of new tunes

Graveyard of the Atlantic have moved their ghosts inland. The Boston band steered their ship towards Cleveland to record their newest project, a pair of rock songs crafted within close reach of the genre’s almighty mecca: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The group’s double whammy of new material goes from roaring instrumentals (“Exit Interview”) to ruminating riffs (“Spinning Plates”) real quick, thanks in part to the masterful ear of coproducer Jim Wirt, who’s previously left his mark on […]
