Held. to release debut album, share "New You Anthem" (ft. Frank Iero)

Held., the new project made up of Douglas Robinson and Sal Mignano of The Sleeping and Josh Eppard of Coheed and Cambria, have announced that they will be releasing their debut album. It is called Grey and will be out on May 15 via MNRK Heavy. The band has also released a video for their new song “New You Anthem” which features guest vocals from Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance and L.S. Dunes. The video was produced and directed by Bottling Company Films. Check out the video and tracklist below.

For the first time in what seems like forever, we get to bring you some brand new music to get your day going. Today, we’re stoked to bring you a track called “Bare Ends.” It comes to us from Philadelphia post-hardcore band King Slender. Here’s what the band has to say about the track:

“It’s a mid tempoed emo hardcore jam that stabs from different angles, settling in the chorus to anthem the feeling of being worn to the last possible point. Seeing yourself in that state and living with it, like a passenger along for the ride, is the notion the song howls at while acknowledging what it is to resign to it. Our very talented friend, Kevin Morris (Orphan Donor, Full of Hell), was kind enough to lend horns to the track.”

“Bare Ends” appears on King Slender’s forthcoming full-length, There Is Your Image In Light, which is due out February 27th on Tor Johnson Records, who will have their own exclusive green/black ripple variant. Slow Down and Dancing Rabbit in the EU have clear/green/black splatter and clear/green cloudy versions. You can also find them at Immigrant Sun and Oliver Glenn and Far From Home. Collect them all!

Interviews: Talking 'Not Here Not Gone' with Sunny and Mikayla of Blackwater Holylight

Listening to Blackwater Holylight is an immersive experience. The doom and shoegaze-infused hard rockers kick out inventive arrangements that strike the perfect balance between heavy and soft as they take listeners on a journey through uncertainty, disembodiment, and confidence on their fourth album Not Here Not Gone. To record the album, the band went to Sonic Ranch in Texas and removed all distractions in order to focus solely on the songs. The resulting tracks are ten of their most intentional creations to date, complete with lush instrumentation and soaring vocals. They pay tribute to their beginnings in Portland while continuing to break new ground sonically and lyrically, inspired in part by their recent move to Los Angeles. Not Here Not Gone will be out on January 30 via Suicide Squeeze Records. Blackwater Holylight will be touring the US starting in February and will be touring Europe, including playing Roadburn Festival, in the spring. Punknews editor Em Moore caught up with Sunny Faris and Mikayla Mayhew to talk about the album, recording away from distractions, incorporating sounds from their neighbourhood into “Fade”, and so much more. Festivals & Events: Liberation Weekend announces details for 2026

Liberation Weekend, the music festival put together by Ekko Astral, has announced the lineup for this year. Along with Ekko Astral, Pissed Jeans, Illuminati Hotties (playing Free IH in full), Laura Jane Grace, Crush Fund, Peach Rings, Snowing, Gladie, Spring Silver, Thisdogllhunt, Eevie Echoes and the Locations, Bambara, Ragana, MX Lonely, Adult Human Females, Ezra Furman, Pool Kids, Pom Pom Squad, Pretty Bitter, Pinky Lemon, Cryptid Summer, OK Cuddle, Somebody’s Daughter, Soul Meets Body, Ultra Deluxe, Hit Like A Girl, Jade Weapon, Latchkey Kids, Motocrossed, and Tripper will be playing the festival. Proceeds will be donated to Gender Liberation Movement and No More Dysphoria. Liberation Weekend will take place April 24-26 at Black Cat and Transmission in Washington, DC.

Tours: HIRS Collective and Commitment announce US tour

HIRS Collective and Commitment have announced spring tour dates for the US. The tour begins on March 28 in Cleveland, Ohio and wraps up on April 22 in Baltimore, Maryland. Tickets go on sale January 30. HIRS Collective released their album We’re Still Here in 2023. Commitment will be releasing their debut album Fear Of on April 3 via Get Better Records and released their debut recording Demo in 2025. Check out the dates below.

Tom Morello organizes I.C.E. victims concert

Tom Morello is throwing the Defend Minnesota show. The event is in solidarity with ICE protestors. 100% of proceeds go to the families of I.C.E. victims Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Morello is playing along with Rise Against, Al Di Meola, Ike Reilley, and a surprise guest. The event is January 30 in Minneapolis and tickets are on sale now. Morello issued a statement: “If it looks like fascism, sounds like fascism, acts like fascism, dresses like fascism, talks like fascism, kills like fascism and lies like fascism, boys & girls it’s f*cking fascism. It’s here, it’s now, it’s in my city, it’s in your city and it must be resisted, protested, defended against, stood up to, exposed, ousted, overthrown and driven out. By you and by me. We are coming to Minneapolis where the people have heroically stood up against ICE, stood up against Trump, stood up against this terrible rising tide of state terror. Tours: Napalm Death announce North American tour

Napalm Death have announced North American tour dates for this spring. The trek will begin with their performance at Florida’s Welcome to Rockville festival on May 7 and will wrap up on June 14 in Vancouver, BC. Deadguy and Primitive Man will be joining them on select dates. Acid Bath and Pig Destroyer will be joining them for two shows in late May. Napalm Death released Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism in 2020. Check out the dates below.
