Psychtoberfest brings fuzz and fall flavors back to Deep Cuts

May the October puns commence, starting with Psychtoberfest. Fall’s standard Oktoberfest flavors and the fuzz of the Massachusetts rock scene come together this Saturday (October 4) at Deep Cuts’ third annual psych-rock event (not to be confused with Punktoberfest, another genre-specific fall gathering that takes place at Lowell’s Thirsty First). This year’s edition of Psychtoberfest bundles talent from across the state, recruiting Boston stoner punks Zip-Tie Handcuffs, Wareham fuzz fiends PINKLIDS (pictured above), Western Mass twister Fugue State, and the spacey, shimmering […]

Exclusive Videos: Watch the new video by Mega Infinity!

Today, we are very excited to bring you the premiere of the new song and video by Mega Infinity! The song is called “Temperance” and the video was directed by lead vocalist Michi DiGiulio. “Temperance” is their first single since signing with Say-10 Records and the first song off their upcoming second album Harmonic Convergence. It is also the first recording to feature their bassist, Gabi Frost. The track features Andrew Heaton of Joystick! and Flying Raccoon Suit on trombone, Dani Dross of Plastic Presidents on trumpet, and Bex Rose of PWRUP, Joystick!, and Knifethroat on Bari sax. Speaking to Punknews about the song, Michi said, ”The main riff of the song is easily one of my favorites Mike has ever written. When we were working on the track instrumentally, it reminded me of some of my favorite metal and hardcore songs. It reminded me of our younger days when we had first met – when he was in a progressive metalcore band. It was like his talent I saw from the first day I saw him perform met with the respect and adoration we have for bands we get to play with in the ska scene, like Flying Raccoon Suit, Sgt. Scag, PWRUP, and Stuck Lucky. Everything I wrote lyrically initially just didn't say "my favorite song" the way I wanted it to. I had a really hard time writing this song initially because I couldn't figure out what it was about from the riff. For a long time, the lyrics were, “Let's go Rangers," because it felt like the kind of song you hear at a hockey game or a wrestler's intro song. That's why I decided it needed to have a horn section – I wanted it to feel like a metal song with a marching band to match. Andy from Flying Raccoon Suit helped bring that to life with Mike together in the arrangement. To me, the song has this ambition musically to just motivate you. I wanted the lyrics to match that in a way that felt authentic. Finally, I consulted my tarot deck. I pulled a tarot card and a second card fell out. The first was Temperance and the second was The Chariot. To me, the Temperance card represents the patience and time you spend waiting in the middle between one phase of life or a project or the next. It's that moderation and restraint you need to show in the time to strategize. It's recognizing the time in which you rest, visualize, and dream to prepare to go. The Chariot is a card to me that symbolizes knowing you don't have to push, that circumstances will pull you to the next level. The two together formed into lyrics about moving towards what you feel is your destiny after a lot of careful deliberation and planning.” Harmonic Convergence will be out in early 2026 via Say-10 Records. Mega Infinity will be touring down to FEST with PWRUP and Joker’s Republic starting on October 18 and you can see the full dates below. Watch the video for “Temperance” below!

DS Photo Gallery & Show Review: Dwarves / Julius Sumner Miller / Vargouille / Tipless (Blox Art Centre – Calgary, AB 9/14/2025)

Rock legends, The Dwarves, were in Calgary last Sunday night for one of only two Alberta dates. The show took place at the Blox Art Centre, an all-ages venue, and featured three local bands: Tipless and Julius Sumner Miller, both from Calgary and Edmonton’s Vargouille. The Blox Art Centre was perfect for a punk show – small, dark, with a stage practically on the floor. It was shaping up to be a great night, even for the younger crowd.

First up was Tipless. This female-fronted five-piece delivered a raw and gritty set, the perfect opening act for the night. They screamed their way through a powerful performance, pulling the audience closer and gaining fans with each song.

Next up was Vargouille, who, despite not being on the original bill, fit right in with their hardcore sound. Immersing themselves in the audience, as fans went wild. Their heavy tone and distinct style won over the crowd with ease.

By the time Julius Sumner Miller took the stage, the room was packed. A local favorite, JSM delivered a loud and energetic performance. They played a set of crowd-pleasing tracks, including “St. Teresa,” “Cheap Parmesan,” “This Town Sucks,” and SNFU’s “Drunk on a Bike.” The audience loved it, singing along throughout their entire set.

When The Dwarves hit the stage, they immediately got into it, and the crowd was ready. They delivered a stellar set – high-energy, chaotic, and flawless. Frontman, Blag Dahlia, shared the mic with the fans, belting out lyrics from their vast discography, while everyone screamed along at the top of their lungs. The Dwarves played over two dozen classics, like “Demonica,” “Back Seat of my Car,” “Anybody Out There,” and “The Dwarves Are Still the Best Band Ever,” covering almost everything you could want. Because the best band ever never disappoints, their encore blew everyone away. Small punk shows like this are our favorite, and they’re even better when The Dwarves are playing. Obviously, we can’t wait for the next show!
