Speaking to Punknews about the song, guitarist Bailey Sweeney said, ”This song was written exactly as it opens up, by me talking to myself in my car. I spend a lot of time alone in the car for long periods of time since everyone in the band lives so far apart, and those lonely drives are always accompanied by some of my worst thoughts. I often end up turning my worst thoughts into lyrics for songs, which then makes me feel like I have to keep feeling that way so I’ll have something to write about.” ”Backseat Therapist” will be out everywhere on February 7. Good Music has announced a compilation album that will support ongoing wildfire recovery efforts in Los Angeles. The album is called Good Music To Lift Los Angeles and will be available on Bandcamp on February 7 for 24 hours only. The album features 90 tracks including songs by Chelsea Wolfe, cumgirl8, Death Cab For Cutie, FIDLAR, Gustaf, HEALTH, The Hold Steady, Manchester Orchestra, Militarie Gun, The New Pornographers, Pool Kids, PUP (who took to Instagram to say that their song is a previously unreleased demo called "Boring!"), R.E.M., Soccer Mommy, Spiritual Cramp, and TV on the Radio. The artwork was created by Cleon Peterson. All proceeds from the album will be donated to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the LA Food Bank. February 7 is a Bandcamp Friday and will see Bandcamp donating its share of profits from everything sold on the platform to MusiCares. See the list of participating artists below.

Black Sabbath have announced that they will be playing their final show. Bill Ward will be joining Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Tony Iommi for the first time in 20 years. The show will take place on July 5 in Villa Park in the band’s hometown of Birmingham, UK and will feature a bunch of additional performances. Along with performing with Black Sabbath, Ozzy Ozbourne will also play a solo set. Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Alice In Chains, Halestrom, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastodon, Billy Corgan, David Draiman of Disturbed, Duff McKagan, Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, Lizzy Hale, Jake E Lee, Jonathan Davis of Korn, KK Downing, Mike Bordin of Faith No More, Papa V Perpetua of Ghost, Rude Sarzo, Sammy Hager, Slash, Sleep Token ii of Sleep Token, Tom Morello (who is the music director of the event), and Wolfgang Van Halen will also be performing. Tickets for the show go on sale on February 14 and proceeds will be split between Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.

Calgary, Alberta-based folk punk artist Spencer Jo has released a video for their song “Talking to Myself”. The video was shot around Calgary and some scenes were shot at local restaurant and live venue The Palomino Smokehouse. It stars Khezya Wong and was written and directed by Spencer Jo. The song is off their album The Water which was released in 2024. Spencer Jo will be touring around Canada this year including a performance at Pouzza Fest in Montreal in May.
