On 1 November, I had the privilege of hanging out with friends who took me to see City Mouse, Plaster, and Crimson Riot at the Red Dwarf. Located on the East Side of Las Vegas, the Red Dwarf is known for their Detroit-style pizzas and live music. If you find yourself in Vegas, this place is worth a visit!

City Mouse is a California-based pop punk band. The band’s energy on stage was and I was immediately drawn to Dee’s voice. It’s powerful and punchy and will resonate with you for days. Band members for this show included Miski Dee on vox and guitar, Jen Louie on bass, and Danny Michael on drums. Davey, guitarist, sat this show out due to hearth issues but is on the road to recovery. Find them here next.

Add their Christmas jingle, “Don’t Blame It on the Mistletoe,” to your holiday playlist!

Plaster is a Las Vegas punky indie rock band with members Aldred on vox and guitar, Eric on bass, Gabe on guitar, and Beau on drums. The band played a killer set and sounded great!

Plaster is preparing for the release of their self-titled, debut EP produced and mixed by Tim White of Sweet Morphine and Snowdonnas. Find them here.

Crimson Riot is a Vegas-based pop punk trio but played this set as a two-piece as they recently lost their drummer. The band’s set started out and finished strong with catchy tunes and and energetic stage presence. The band is Roxy Gunn on vox and guitar and Chris Reject on vox and bass. They’re currently looking for a new drummer. So, if you know anyone in the Vegas area who might be a good fit, let ’em know! Find them here next.

Listen to the new album by Staring Problem!

Today we are thrilled to bring you the premiere of the new album by Chicago-based post-punks Staring Problem! The album is called Equinox and finds the band expanding their sound by incorporating more melodic elements into the seven tracks as well as welcoming a more collaborative songwriting approach that finds them exploring mental health, environmental concerns, the impact of technology, and so much more. Speaking to Punknews about the album, singer and guitarist Lauren Owen said, ”"Making this album was a very gratifying experience in that we all had fun working together creatively while simultaneously maintaining an earnest introspection and view of the present state of the world (and what the future might look like collectively going forward).  Instrumentation, lyrics, recording, production, photography, and album artwork all cultivate a community of individuals that generate a resonant tone and is ultimately what drives a band like Staring Problem to continue to subsist for over 15 years. The current band lineup could not have existed without the support of local Chicago DIY venue Mousetrap (RIP) which brought all three of us together and also provided a practice space to write said album material.” Equinox will be out on December 20 via Modern Tapes and you can pre-order it right here. Listen to Equinox below!

Exclusive Videos: Watch the new video by Butterbrain!

Today we are thrilled to bring you the premiere of the new video by New York City-based Butterbrain! The video is for their new song “Armageddon Party” which features Angelo Moore of Fishbone. The video was filmed by Jeff Pliskin of Raised Fist Propaganda. Speaking to Punknews about the song and video the band said, ”The video for the single “Armageddon Party” was filmed by Jeff Pliskin of Raised Fist Propaganda. We shot it in pieces – during the recording of the new album in Astoria in Queens, NY at Spin Studios, at our live show at Bowery Electric in NYC, and we filmed the final pieces at our rehearsal space in Long Island City in Queens, NY.  The video features Angelo Moore of Fishbone, who produced the full album, which is set for release this spring. The connection to Angelo was made through Jeff of Raised Fist Propaganda a few years back after he saw us perform a remake of Fishbone’s song "UGLY" during a performance at Amityville Music Hall in Long Island. We recorded the song a few months back for the Classics vs. Classics Vol. 4 Compilation (produced by Jast Collum), where several bands record two covers of their favorite artists.  We knew Jeff was the perfect person to shoot our first video from the upcoming album. He’s done several of our past videos, and his connection with us and Angelo made it a no-brainer. We are stoked to finally share the new music with our fans and followers. It was important for us to push this one out, as we feel it’s a sign of the times, and the perfect vibe for the madness in the state of the world these days. Fitting for the stress and madness the holiday season brings. An apocalyptic message, with a party twist, if you will. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it for you.” "Armageddon Party" is off Butterbrain's upcoming album of the same name which will be out in the spring. Watch the video for "Armageddon Party" below!
