Exclusive Videos: Watch the new video by Fight Back Mountain!

Today we are thrilled to bring you the premiere of the new video by St. Louis-based punk rockers Fight Back Mountain! The video is for their new song “No Recourse” and is off their upcoming album Death and the Miser. Speaking to Punknews about the song, the band said, ”’No Recourse’ is about as hardcore as our band usually gets. We were inspired by modern hardcore acts like One Step Closer, Prevention, and Turnstile to make this track! Lyrically it's sort of a 'throw everything at the wall' type of song that's about feeling like everything is a scam and we're all the victims. Hopefully, this feeling doesn't personally resonate with you, but chances are it probably will. And that's why we made the song!” ”No Recourse” will hit streaming services on December 19. Death and the Miser will be out on February 13 and you can pre-order it right here. Watch the video for “No Recourse” below!

Harley Flanagan releases hot sauce

Harley Flanagan of Cro-mags has released a hot sauce. It's through the company Don Wapo and is called Age of Hot Sauce. The company describes the sauce as: "Indulge in Don Wapo's streetwise delight of Salsa de Ajo Callejera, where the freshness of ripe tomatoes, the pungent allure of garlic, and the tangy zest of white wine vinegar, white vinegar, and champagne vinegar come together in perfect harmony. Experience the tantalizing symphony of taste as aromatic garlic dances with vibrant tomatoes, while the kick of chili peppers is complemented by the smooth and velvety texture from grapeseed oil."The sauce is described as medium hot. Listen to the new song by Matty Grace!

Today we are super stoked to bring you the premiere of the new song by punk singer-songwriter Matty Grace! The track is called “The Great Canadian Going Out of Business Sale” and is off her upcoming album Cheap Shame. Speaking about the album, Matty said, ”Self-respect? In this economy? Taking cues from 90s punks Jawbreaker and Samiam and blending it with a mix of ‘77 style punk and power pop, Cheap Shame was constructed over many weeks of sleepless nights and a changing personal and political landscape. Trying to find hope in the bleak reality we have in front of us is an exercise in just how resilient someone can be. Collaborating with Jordan Bell (Fossil Record, Crusades, The Creeps), who handled drum duties and production alongside guest performances from Becca Dalley (Book Buddies, G.R.O.S.S.), Chris Venoit (ex-Talk Show Host), and James Robertson (Weekend Dads, The Hemingways). As much as this is technically a solo record it is very much a team effort. Cheap Shame is a work that might help you realize that just trying to get through to the next morning is enough sometimes. It’s ok to struggle. Tell Your Friends You Love Them.” Speaking about the song Matty said, ”Capitalism is a game that we don’t have any opportunity to opt out of. This song is about navigating that as a neurodivergent-chronically-ill-transgender woman. It often feels that we’re just cogs in the machine.” ”The Great Canadian Going Out of Business Sale” hits streaming services on December 20. Cheap Shame will be out next year via Dirt Cult Records. Hailing from Rockford, Illinois and Madison, Wisconsin, The Rad Skulls have thrown down a gauntlet of a demo that has some of the catchiest songs I’ve heard this year. The hallmarks of melodic hardcore bands are alive and well on the four tracks presented to us. Let’s dig in.

Opening track “Stories” jumps back and forth between a fast beat and a slower tempo and trading screaming vocals for harmonized vocals when it does. Lead singer Joe’s vocals are a bit more raw in those harder moments, but there’s some reprieve in those softer moments and lyrics that seem to go through a roller coaster of emotions. There’s no real structure to the song which makes these changes unpredictable and exciting especially. Second song, “Loud as Shit,” works well as a short and fast palate cleanser before moderately paced third track, “6:05 GMT.” “6:05 GMT” and “Good Thing (Jingle Jazz)”‘s big group vocals give the song that extra push to make this great. The melodic riffs and vocals the Rad Skulls have brewed are well placed.

I would like to see the Rad Skulls live or hear more songs because with these four songs they just seem to be getting their footing. Their big guitar sound paired with the breakneck speed of the drums is very reminiscent of some of punk’s greatest bands of the 1990s. There’s a lot of ambition found here and these tracks seem to be heading in the right direction. As far as demos go, this is a great sample of a band I hope to hear more from in the future.
