Toronto’s Doghouse Rose have been kicking out excellent power pop and new wave-infused punk rock for over a decade and they’ve channelled their indomitable energy into their most expansive album yet, Born To Break Even. The quintet has embraced a “yes, and” attitude that finds them breaking into new sonic territory and writing with unbridled freedom. Over the ten tracks, the band tackles what it means to be a touring band, talks openly about mental health, and celebrates the power of community, and sweaty punk shows, with lyrics that balance vulnerability with their signature wit. Punknews editor Em Moore caught up with lead vocalist Sarah Beth and drummer Jordan Zagerman to take about the album, looking after mental health, chips, and so much more. Read the interview below!
