Butthole Surfers announced long lost album

Butthole Surfers will release a long lost album. After the Astronaut was originally supposed to follow ElectricLarryland, but was shelved for not being commercial. It will finally be released via Sunset Blvd on June 26, 2026. Guitarist Paul Leary says, “We were pretty stoked to make another album after the success of our previous album and its single ‘Pepper’. Capitol Records was stoked to get that next record until our relationship soured. Hollywood Records bought the album but wanted to make changes to it which was an uncomfortable experience for us. Now we have the right to release the original recording the way we intended it to be with its original title, After The Astronaut.” You can see the video for "Jet Fighter" below.

Keanu Reeves goes on an apology tour in the ‘Outcome’ trailer

Man, it’s been a bit since we’ve heard anything from Jonah Hill. Would it surprise you to know that the Mid90s director has two feature films coming out this year? Well, it shocked us, as Hill hasn’t directed anything since that doc about his shrink in ‘22, and one of them, Cut Off, is getting a big ol’ release from WB this summer. The subject of this post, however, is not Cut Off. It is Outcome, a feature Hill made […]

The ‘Dune: Part Three’ teaser is full of spice, spice, and everything spice

Well, how’s this for a Saint Patrick’s Day present? You won’t find too much green in the new Dune: Part Three trailer, but you will find an aged Timothee Chalamet (fresh off of hearing approximately one million “ballet and opera” jokes), an aged Zendaya (presumably having heard a billion “Zendaya is Meechee” gags since… Vine was around), and a Robert Pattinson at his most Thin White Duke. In all seriousness, this first look at what Denis Villeneuve has been cooking […]

Vinyl sales passed $1 Billion in 2025

2025 was the 19th consecutive year of growth for new vinyl record sales, growing about 9% in sales compared to 2024. In 2025, US consumers purchased $1.04 billion in new records, according to a report by the RIAA. Consumers purchased an estimated 48.5 million new vinyl units. By comparison, CDs sold 29.5 million units. Note that these numbers do not account for the sale of used vinyl. Pop stars were largely responsible for the charge- Taylor Swift led new LP sales in 2025, selling 1.6 copies of The Life of a Showgirl, in addition to her other vinyl releases. Sabrina Carpenter, in second place, sold about 292,000 copies sold of her 2025 release Man’s Best Friend. In third, Kendrick Lamar sold 272,000 copies of his album GNX. Perhaps surprisingly, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours came in sixth at 190,000 sales, and Michael Jackson’s Thriller, came in seventh with 182,000 units sold in 2025. Still, physical media is now only a small fraction of recorded music income. Physical media accounts for about 9% of music sales/income. Streaming is by far the dominant force, earning around $9 billion in 2025. As per the RIAA, “[U.S.] recorded music has demonstrated sustained growth globally, reaching $6.4 billion alone in paid subscriptions and tallying 50% of global vinyl revenue, leading the way for fans to listen and connect with their favorite music whenever, wherever and however they want.” In 1978, vinyl recorded its highest sales ever at $1.5 billion in sales… so far…
