Cassie Ramone releases surprise album

Cassie Ramone of Vivian Girls and The Babies has released a new album. It's called Sweetheart and right now, appears to be digital only. Cassie included a statement about the album. In part, Cassie stated that "[Collaborator Dylan white] once said that describing music is like trying to tell someone about the dream you had last night. I agree. So I’ll just say about SWEETHEART: it’s “a Cassie Ramone version of a pop album inspired by pop music past and present.” You can hear the album below and read Cassie's full statement on the youtube link for the album.

Check out the new video by Egghead!

We are PSYCHED to debut the new video by Egghead! You all know Egghead. The band made a name for themselves in the late '90s by kicking out melodic pop-punk inspired in equal parts by Descendents, They might be giants, and the Undertones. Well, the band is reissuing the waaaay out of print, CD only compilation Dumb Songs For Smart People… except now it is on vinyl… and it's remastered and it sounds great! The band's John Ross Bowie (who was also in a little show called The Big Bang Theory) spoke to Punknews about the re-release: "When Mike Faloon moved to New York City in 1993, he remarked to me that he’d never lived anywhere with a neighborhood palm reader. I had grown up in the city, so I sort of just took it for granted that there were people on every other block who claimed to have psychic abilities. And that’s a really weird thing to take for granted. But Faloon thought it made a great song title, so I wrote this sort of celebration of New York City and the people in it who claimed to have supernatural powers." You can pick up the record here and here. And, the band is about to play some shows with the like-minded Ergs and Boris the Sprinkler! And, you can check out the video for "Neighborhood Palm reader" below, right now!Photo: Seth Olenick

Videos: Watch the new video by Heartwells!

Today we are thrilled to bring you the premiere of the new video by Long Beach-based punks Heartwells! The video is called “Coasted” and was filmed by Jeff Anton. Speaking about the track, vocalist and guitarist JT Tauch said, ”’Coasted’ was one of the songs I brought to the band as a demo that I never thought we would turn into an actual song. We decided to take the verses in another direction and thought the element of surprise from the thrash intro would be a nice touch. The song is about the dream of moving to California and the reality of actually living here with expectations. The funny thing is that we never knew how to finish this song until I went home and workshopped the outro. I think it became one of the best songs on the record and captured the vibe of Long Beach, like old-school Sublime summer vibes. Guinness wanted to shoot it in our friend's backyard and just have a party, so we did. Jeff Antons filmed it. That dude is amazing.” “Coasted” is off their new album The New Old School which is out digitally today and will be out physically on June 29. Watch the video below!

Najee Janey glides into bliss with new EP ‘Break Free’

When Najee Janey imagines the concept of freedom, he thinks big — airline big. “Welcome aboard flight 514, Janey Air, straight flight to Break Free,” a stewardess announces on “Around The World,” the opening track of the Roxbury artist’s new EP. The song may be a personal peace-out, with Janey’s voice and mind gliding through breezy R&B, but the “Janey Air” metaphor continues throughout Break Free, extending an invitation for listeners to ascend into bliss alongside him. (Or, as the […]
