Singapore punk/thrashers Opposition Party release new album

Long running Singaporean punkers/thrashers Opposition Party have released a new album. It's called Rethrashed and is self-released. The band states they are planning on touring Singapore. You can hear the album below.

Kepi says he will release at least four records this year

2024 is the 40th anniversary of Groovie Ghoulies. In a post celebrating the milestone, Kepi Ghoulie says that in 2024, he will release at least 7-inch and three 12-inch records (though he was unclear if the 12-inch releases were Eps or Lps… or even 12-inch singles). He stated on January 1: "Well it was 40 years ago TODAY that I decided I was going to have a band called GROOVIE GHOULIES and here I am, still at it with friends… Some bands got way bigger, some bands are gone, but my friends and I are still at it… “Rich in friends, Poor in Purse” is not the worst way to be when the rent is paid, you have a meal in your belly, love in your heart, some animal buddies, a kick ass band, solo gigs whenever you want, and at least three records coming out this year ( a 7” and at least 3 12” worth of music!!!! ) I have no fancy managers or agents, but we have plenty of fun planned, starting with an opening gig for DERV GORDON OF THE EQUALS and So What Feb 22 at @thesidedoor_sacramento. Life is pretty great, we have really been through a lot you and I, so why stop now? We might just be getting started on the next great chapter! Thank you ALL, I love you!!! This art by @iwilldestroytom (poorly and intentionally cropped for reasons that I can’t explain right now), but HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME /US!!!! 40 years of anything is pretty awesome" Kepi released Ramones in Love and Full Moon Forever in 2023.

Listen to a new track by Eevie Echoes and the Locations!

Today we are stoked to bring you the premiere of the new track by Eevie Echoes and the Locations! The song is called “Braindead” and is off her upcoming album The Cons of Being a Wallflower. Speaking to Punknews about the track, Eevie said, ”'Braindead' talks about the feeling of dissociation and the uncomfortable not quite human feeling that I can get when I'm experiencing really bad anxiety. It plays off the feeling of being in a video game and not being fully in control of your body or your actions as if an external player was controlling the game of your life." The Cons of Being A Wallflower will be out everywhere on January 10 via Ska Punk International. Listen to the new song below!

Boston Beat: Listen to Nick Minieri’s 55-track ‘Hometown 2023’ mix

Oh 2023, we’re not through with you just yet. As we return from a holiday recharge and set the New Year in our alt-media crosshairs, we take one last look back at the past year through one of the most trusted lenses in Boston — longtime DJ, producer, and party maven Nick Minieri. His annual Hometown mix dropped at the tail end of ’23, and, as usual, it’s a mindful collection of the Boston beat sound, with 55 tracks spanning […]

Dying Scene was at the Q101 Twisted Christmas Day 2 which brought thousands of Chicagoans out to Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom to see Lovejoy with two opening acts, White Reaper and Chicago’s own Brigitte Calls Me Baby, who both put on a great show! The fans sang along to their favorite tunes and everyone was jolly!

Though they hail from England, Lovejoy needed no formal introduction to their audience on this side of the pond. When they stepped into the spotlight, their Chicagoan crowd went wild and the energy was felt throughout the venue. Fans waited for hours before the doors opened in a line that stretched several blocks in the cold windy Chicago air. Check them out when they are back on tour in 2024.

White Reaper is a garage punk band from Kentucky who took the stage with a great mix of punk and hard alternative rock. They played a fantastic set. The fans were excited through the night. Find them here.

Brigitte Calls Me Baby is an up and coming Chicago band. BCMB ripped through their set playing some of their most popular track “Impressively Average” and played their version of “Careless Whisper” by Wham while staying true to their own unique sound. BCMB were genuinely happy to see a huge crowd of fans that came out to see them and to see their fans screaming and singing along. Be sure to catch them in 2024 here.

Interviews: The Melvins reflect on the 40th Year of The Melvins

2023 was the FORTIETH year of the Melvins. They've released 30+ albums. They've played thousands of shows. They've changed the landscape of rock music itself. And yet, in the year 40 A.M., the band, instead of running around saying "We're 40! We're the best! Give us praise!", they decided to put out a TON of new releases and played a special tour. But, just before the band was set to jump off and play their iconic album Bullhead in full on the road, drummer Dale Crover had to have emergency back surgery. how could the tour go on without their crucial, illustrious drummer?! And yet, the Melvins, ever the artists and workmen, smashed forward through the tour and through the hurdles and through the year. Punknews' John Gentile spoke with Melvins Buzz Osborne and Steven McDonald and some of the band's compatriots about the band's 40th year… and their place in history. You can read that below.
