Celebrate Johnny Cash’s 80th b-day with Social Distorion, Bouncing Souls, more

It’s February 26th again, which means it’s Johnny Cash’s birthday. If he were still alive, the Man In Black would be turning 80 years old today.

In celebration, we’ve compiled videos from some of your favorite punk artists covering songs originally performed by the original punk himself. Many of the songs come from the 2008 tribute album “All Aboard: A Tribute To Johnny Cash” that Anchorless Records put out. The Social Distortion cover of “Ring of Fire” that we went with is an acoustic version of the track that they originally recorded for their self titled album, released in 1990.The Gimmes cover of “Sunday Morning Coming Down” (which is technically a Kris Kristofferson song) appears on 2006’s “Love Their Country.”
