The Vicious Cycles have a new album out on June 7, Motorcycho via Pirates Press Records. The Vancouver quintet play a blend of classic 70s punk mixed with pop and garage rock. They have released a video for the single ‘Hot Dog In The City’. At just under two minutes, it’s a quick listen but the second half of the chorus has a great little catchy melody. If you are in the Vancouver area, and like the sound of these guys, they have a couple of dates in June and July.

Rolling Stone talks with Tom Delonge

In a mainly UFO-oriented interview with The Rolling Stone, former blink-182 singer Tom Delonge has stated that he is often five years ahead of trends:

“I think Angels and Airwaves has always been a little bit ahead of its time. For a kid that grew up on a band like the Ramones like me, these are complex sounds and compositions. I remember that a lot of my fan base wasn’t totally ready for it, because they were still mourning over the fact that I wasn’t playing with Blink at the time. But I tend to realize that everything I’ve done in my life is about five years ahead of its time. It would make a lot of sense that people would revisit what I was doing now and say, “Oh, I kind of get it.” That tends to be the curve that I’m on with everything I do.”

One could argue that quotes like this one are a strong case for why Matt Skiba makes more sense in blink-182 in 2019.

San Francisco melodic punks, Reunions are debuting their newest video set to the single “Light Left On”, a song off their upcoming release Winter Heart, Summer Skin. The new 10-track LP – the product of two years of writing and recording from a band with a self-proclaimed life on the side, (I wont be the one to make that judgement) dad-ing and dog dad-ing and whatnot – is set to release on June 21, here. You can enjoy a sample via the music video “Light Left On” below.

“Light Left On tries to take a look at the parts of our biology that make us who we are, for better and worse, and how we find a way to fight through the feeling of wanting to be someone/somewhere else. Biology is a direction but not destiny.” –Eric (Guitar/Vocals)

The much-anticipated new album from Strung Out finally has a title and a release date. It is called Songs of Armor and Devotion and will be released by Fat Wreck Chords on August 9, 2019. The album can be pre-ordered here.

Singer Jason Cruz says of the album, “Some songs can be armor: they can repel and they can guard you,” explains Cruz. “And they can also bring you comfort and speak of love and belonging to something. To be a good and gentle person, you have to put up a little bit of armor, but that armor never works, because you’re so caring and sensitive and vulnerable that your heart is going to be displayed on that armor anyway. There are so many thoughts and feelings in my head that I just opened up and let it go so I could explore the duality of having to defend and protect what’s inside, and at the same time make it available for the world.”

Check out “Daggers” below for the first taste of what is to come from this quintessential punk band.
