One of my personal favorite local bands, Dan Webb and the Spiders, is releasing a new compilation this week!

It’s entitled Now It Can Be Told – Volume Two, and is an obvious follow-up to their similarly-named 2014 compilation. This particular release features seventeen tracks — eight previously unreleased — all recorded between 2015 and 2017 by what was the band’s tightest lineup to date (Webb on vocals and guitar, Chris Amaral on guitar, Stephen Benson on drums and Sean McAllister on bass). The release is due out tomorrow (September 4th) on Gunner Records USA, and you can pre-order yours right here.

While you’re at it, check out the band’s video for the Now It Can Be Told – Volume Two track “Klausi” below!

Stoked to see this band signed to one of my favorite European punk labels. Italian melodic hardcore/skate-punk act 30 Miles will be releasing “Short Tales For Braves” via Disconnect Disconnect Records on September 27th. Until then you can get a taste of what’s to come by streaming the new track “The Beasts” below.

Of the release, the band writes:

“Hi everyone out there reading! We are so glad to make this statement.

We have faced line-up changes, production and post-production issues, health problems, breakups and a lot of negative stuff came through, but a the end the p.m.a. took its pace.

We are not just going to release 32 minutes of music, we are releasing ourselves, all the feelings, life pressure, emotions and illogic thoughts that we all have to handle daily, so we dediced to give each song its own character.
It’s a 7 tracks record, which means that every song is quite long and we wanted to give the sensation of having a rock trip carried by lyrics, which they are made out with a lot of similarities respect to how we felt like living the past few years, that’s why it’s named Short Tales For Braves.

Much love and respect. “

Sam,
Tommi,
Mik,
Giova”

30 Miles last released “The Smiles Of Rage & Paranoia” in December 2012 via Ghost Factory Records.

Russian Girlfriends releasing split with Redbush, stream cover of Nirvana’s “Downer”

Albuquerque, New Mexico punks Russian Girlfriends have just placed a new release up for pre-order on their bandcamp. Titled “Split with Redbush” I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that’s the Wyoming punk act Redbush. Neither band has anything to say about the release on their respective FB pages so I could stand corrected. […]

Titled “Split with Redbush” I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that’s the Wyoming punk act Redbush. Neither band has anything to say about the release on their respective FB pages so I could stand corrected.

One thing I do know is that the Russian Girlfriends side contains a cover of Nirvana’s “Downer” from their 1989 “Bleach” album and you can stream that puppy below.

Russian Girlfriends’ last release was another split put out in March, 2017.

Album Review: MXPX – “MXPX”

Album Review: MXPX – “MXPX”

Defining a full-length studio album as one comprised of mostly, if not entirely, new and original material, here are some bands who have NOT yet released ten proper full-length studio albums: Descendents, Lagwagon, blink-182, The Offspring, Less Than Jake, Strung Out, Rancid. (Bands that have? NOFX, Bad Religion, Pennywise, Green Day, Screeching Weasel, The Ramones…) Longevity does not necessarily go hand-in-hand with greatness, but, still, you gotta be doing something right to make it to ten full-lengths. And now MxPx has joined the club.
