Knifetwister Records is bringing together over two dozen underground and well-known punk acts for a new benefit compilation: “Trans Riot!”. The album is set to release on November 20th in recognition of Transgender Day of Remembrance. Featuring a lineup of entirely trans artists or bands with trans members, all proceeds from the upcoming release will be granted to organizations that support transgender communities: The Transgender Law Center (Oakland) and the Trans Closet Hudson Valley (NY).
This is the third benefit compilation from the record label, following Not In Our City and Not In Our City ||, which collectively raised more than $1,500. With “Trans Riot!”, the label is providing a platform for underground artists to showcase their talents, perspectives, and frustrations while supporting organizations working directly with transgender communities. Uniting 23 participating bands, the compilation celebrates the voices and creativity of trans artists within the independent punk scene with an aggressive, fast, and hardcore sound.
Ahead of its November 20th release, Knifetwister Records has shared five featured tracks from the album to give listeners a preview!
Anarchicks – “No Freedom Under Fascist Rules”
BODY FARM – “TRANS DAY OF VENGEANCE”
MEDIC! – “The Damage You’ve Done (I Don’t Wanna Go Anywhere Anymore)”
Eevie Echoes & The Locations – “I JUST WANNA PEE”
Maiden Mother Crone – “Blind Obsession”
Knifetwister Records continues to demonstrate the power of independent music communities and what they can accomplish when they come together for a shared cause. Trans artists are revitalizing the punk scene all around the world, now more than ever. Through their angsty, deep, or sappy lyrics, onstage presence, ignorance of conformity, or euphoric gender expression, these artists are so deeply important in our community. “Trans Riot!” is proof that the scene’s longstanding traditions of resistance, inclusivity, and solidarity in action are very much alive.
