Cro-Mags to release new version of 'Age of Quarrel'

Cro-Mags, who are fronted by Harley Flanagan, will release a new version of Age of Quarrel. The new version is titled The Age of Quarrel: 40 Years of Quarrel and it is set for release on November 13th via BLKIIBLK. This version finds the band re-recording the entire release. (As you may know, the rights to the original version have been in dispute since it was released in 1986). In a press release, Flanagan stated ""It all started with the making of the 'Wired for Chaos' movie, but there were several reasons for revisiting 'The Age of Quarrel.' None of the people who played on the original record ever got paid, and none of us ever received an accounting of the album's sales. For years, I tried to reunite the original lineup to re-record it and reclaim the rights to 'The Age of Quarrel' and 'Best Wishes' through the Copyright Reversion Act. But I couldn't get everyone together to take back ownership of the music, and that window has now closed. We had to re-record a few songs for the 'Harley Flanagan: Wired for Chaos' documentary soundtrack because the original recordings couldn't be licensed. That inspired me to finish the entire album. To honor 'The Age of Quarrel,' I brought together friends, current bandmates, and musicians from other bands to celebrate these songs that have meant so much to so many people, myself included. Forty years later, everyone who wrote these songs will finally be paid through ASCAP and BMI, and the remaining proceeds will go to charity. I'm doing my best to make things right. These songs belong to the fans. I'm washing my hands of the past and trying to clear the bad karma from this record. Love wins. My quarrel is over." You can hear the new version of "World Peace" below.

Henry Rollins to release new book

Henry Rollins has announced that he will be releasing a new book. The book is called Bait Dog Boy and is a memoir. The official description of the book reads, ”A searing memoir of a broken childhood and the hope of escaping it—from the iconic Black Flag frontman and legendary punk musician Henry Rollins. What happens when a child grows up in an almost total vacuum of love? That was the reality for Henry Rollins, pioneering punk frontman of the seminal groups Black Flag and Rollins Band, who came of age in an environment seemingly determined to break him. For the first time, Rollins tells the story he spent most of his life trying to avoid, taking us through his childhood and adolescence—from a volatile Washington, D.C., childhood spent shuffling between indifferent parents, to his encounters with a seemingly endless parade of abusive adults, to his eventual meeting with Ian MacKaye, and their ultimate discovery of punk rock, which would become a lifeline. Rollins tells what it was like to live a life colored by the experience of constantly absorbing pain, like a bait dog. “I have no desire to be a survivor,” Rollins writes. “I’d rather accept, absorb, adapt, fight and break that which seeks to break me—to be that which remains.” Told in Rollins’ unmistakably blunt, brutal, and acerbic voice, Bait Dog Boy is a coming-of-age story with the teeth and truth of a great punk anthem. It’s an unforgettable tale of what it means to not quite fit in anywhere, except on stage: A memoir as dynamic and singular as its subject.”The book will be out on March 2 via Random House.

Plum tap into a classic post-punk frequency on ‘Bodies in Motion’

Here’s a radical (traditional) idea for the most un-radical (slang) of times: What if our phones inspired some good? And what if they caused movement and motion and activity, and didn’t force us to slouch down in the fetal position doomscrolling until we mentally shuffle off this emotional coil? As the screen hypnotizes us to sleep and blurs the line between being awake and at rest, Plum take inspiration from a dream to embrace togetherness in an age of solitary […]
