Videos: Initiate: "Delusions"

Initiate have released a video for their new song “Delusions”. The video was created by Annabelle Foster. Speaking about the song, the band said, ”This is a quintessential Initiate song. Lyrically, it follows our typical formula — anger without ever fully surrendering hope. It calls out the weaponization of religion as a vehicle of oppression, while refusing to let that reality overshadow the beauty and goodness that still exist in the world. There’s a tension there that feels intentional: a push and pull between outrage and resilience, disillusionment and clarity. Rather than collapsing under cynicism, the song leans into awareness, choosing to acknowledge the damage without letting it define everything. Sonically inspired by Rage Against the Machine, Delusions channels that same sharp-edged intensity and dynamic build. It’s driven by that sense of urgency — a steady climb that mirrors the lyrical themes, where pressure continues to mount until it has to break. The result is something I think is a staple for us: capturing a balance between chaos and control that we’ve always tried to emulate in our sound."The song is off their EP With Love // With Rage which is out now via Blue Grape Music. Check out the video below.

Interviews: In conversation with Avalon Alexandra of Terminator

Last month, St. Catharines-based hardcore punk band Terminator released their first single, “My Heart Growing Wings”, since the release of their debut album Identity in 2025. The single is just under three minutes of pure sonic energy, with some of Terminator’s most hard-hitting lyrics, heaviest riffs, and spectacularly visceral vocal delivery by lead vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Avalon Alexandra. Avalon performed all of the instruments and vocals for the track, recording everything but the drums herself, with those being engineered by Andy Dmytryshyn of Dundas, Ontario’s Schoolhouse Studios. Live, Terminator is a full band with members of Riposte, Reality Denied, and Ethereal Tomb joining Avalon. Along with making you want to open up a pit wherever you are, “My Heart Growing Wings” is also a powerful statement of personal and musical intent, making no apologies for living authentically while paving the way for future Terminator tunes to come. “My Heart Growing Wings” is available digitally everywhere now. Terminator will be playing shows in Ontario later this month and will be playing Town of Hardcore in Toronto in October. Punknews editor Em Moore caught up with Avalon to talk about the formation of Terminator, the band’s new single “My Heart Growing Wings”, how society treats trans and queer people, creating community, and so much more. Read the interview below! This interview between Em and Avalon took place over Zoom on July 28, 2025. What follows is a transcription of their conversation that has been lightly edited for length and clarity.
