Hence, Greenland 2: Migration, Ric Roman Waugh’s follow-up to his pandemic-era disaster flick. No, it wasn’t about the US invading Greenland in the traditional sense, but rather that the Danish territory was the only place for Butler and family to flee after a massive comet collided with the planet. Now, they gotta live […]</p>

Nardwuar appointed to Order of Canada

Nardwuar has been appointed to the Order of Canada. Nardwuar announced the news in a video on Instagram which is captioned, ”I am honoured to announce that I have been appointed as a member to the Order of Canada. So humbled that people thought I was worthy of this honour and nominated me. I am in awe! Like I can’t even explain myself so I can’t imagine how people would explain me to the committee! Thank you! Also a huge thank you to everyone for the incredible support all these years. I would like to dedicate this Order of Canada to my late Mom, who taught me so much about history, local independent media, and the value of research. I know that she would be, like me, overcome with joy! Doot doola doot doo … Order of … Canada!”The Order of Canada was created in 1967 and is given to people who “make extraordinary contributions” to the country. Nardwuar’s description of the Order of Canada website reads,”Nardwuar the Human Serviette is a music journalism and popular culture innovator. As an independent music, and campus and community radio advocate, he has helped shape our identity, while also earning a devoted global following through his distinctive interview style, tireless research, and support for rising stars and celebrated names.”Nardwuar is among 80 people appointed to the Order this year, along with Olympic gymnast Ellie Black, surgeon Shaf Keshavjee, wine producer Donald Triggs, journalist and advocate Rassi Nashalik, and writer and activist Michelle Good.
