Canadian hardcore mainstays Comeback Kid have detailed a new, two song offering that will be available as a 7″ on their upcoming Australian tour. The EP will feature a cover of Midnight Oil’s “Beds Are Burning” (you know the song, even if you think you don’t) and a track from the “Outsider” LP sessions called “Little Soldier”.

On the decision to cover the track, singer Andrew Neufeld:
“A while back I randomly saw the video for the song Beds Are Burning. I had heard it in passing many times before but the video intrigued me at that particular time. After finding out that it was a protest song about giving back lands to an indigenous group in Australia, it resonated with me because of the current situation our Canadian government has with its indigenous people.”

Frustratingly there is no advance stream, but the EP is out digitally on the usual platforms on May 4th via Nuclear Blast.

The Offspring guitarist Noodles revealed in a recent interview with WRIF’s Meltdown that the band is in the process of finishing their long-awaited new album, which is expected to be released this fall. This is what he had to say:

“This record is taking us a long time, but I think it’s gonna be well worth the wait. We’ve been in the studio working a lot recently with [veteran producer] Bob [Rock] and finishing it up. We’ve got about ten songs done, a couple of more that just need lyrics. And then we may do one or two more, and it’s gonna be a done deal.”

Noodles was also asked when the record’s coming out, and his response was, “This fall. Definitely this year, hopefully fall. We were hoping for summer, but it looks like fall now.”

You can listen to the interview in full right here.

The new record will be The Offspring’s first one since 2012’s Days Go By, and they will be on tour with 311 around the same time it comes out.

New York hardcore legends Madball have announced that their new album For the Cause will be released on June 15th via Nuclear Blast. The record was produced by Tim Armstrong from Rancid, who also guests on the album, along with Body Count‘s Ice-T and Psycho Realm’s Sick Jacken.

Bandleader Freddy Cricien comments:

“We are beyond excited to finally drop ‘For The Cause’!! To say we’re happy with the end result is an understatement! This record accurately defines the current state of our band… our sound, our state of mind, our ambitions, our flaws, and our attitude!

Tim and us go way back, he’s an old friend and super talented guy… across the board! A legend in his own right. He invited us to come record with him and it all fell into place very organically. He’s respected our band from day one and was excited to be a part of this. We’re honored to have him on board.

It’s truly an honor to have Ice-T on our record! I grew up on his music from his early hip hop stuff till now. He’s an iconic figure but also a ‘class ac’, you don’t always get both at once. Ice has a great respect for NYHC and Madball, means the world. This was meant to happen…. real recognizes real.”

The record will be Madball’s first one since 2014’s Hardcore Lives.
