Toronto rockers Bitch Stick have released a new song. It is called “Are You Sure” and is available digitally now. This is the third single the band has released so far this year following “Nothing Changes” and “Useless”. Bitch Stick released four singles in 2022. Check out the song below.

Halo Bite release "Love Lighter" video

Albany-based punk band Halo Bite have released a video for their new song “Love Lighter”. The video was directed and edited by Asher Thomas. The song is off their EP Winner’s Circle which was released last week. Check out the video below.

SPI Fest has announced its lineup for this year. Doom Scroll, Hey, Ily, Space Monkey Mafia, Runaway Ricochet, Something to Do, Stuck Lucky, Bondbreakr, 26 Bats!, Joker’s Republic, Mega Infinity, Los Malos Pasos, Plastic Presidents, Bumsy and the Moochers, BYOBrass, Cheap Bouquet, Courtesy of Tim, Flip and the Combined Effort, Rude Echoes, Poison Ivy and the People, Lost Island Society, and Big Larry and the Skankers will be playing the festival. SPI Fest will take place at Green Room in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 16-17.

Pinkshift announce new album, share "Anita Ride" video

Pinkshift have announced that they will be releasing a new album. It is called Earthkeeper and will be out on August 29 via Hopeless Records. The band has also released a video for their new song “Anita Ride” which was directed and edited by the band. Pinkshift released their remix EP love me for the summer and in 2024 and released their EP suraksha in 2023. Check out the video below.

Tours: Chain Whip announce summer tour (ON and QC)

Chain Whip have announced summer tour dates for Ontario and Quebec. The Chats, Imploders, and Cult Crime will be joining them on select dates. The trick begins on July 29 in Toronto, Ontario and wraps up on August 3 in Hamilton, Ontario. Chain Whip released their album Call of the Knife in 2023. Check out the dates below.

Heartrunner to release new EP, share "Lose It" video

Toronto-based rockers Heartrunner have announced that they will be releasing a new EP. It is called Just A Phase and will be out on August 6. The band has also released a video for their first single from the EP called “Lose It”. It was directed, shot, edited, and coloured by Harrison King. Heartrunner released their two-song single Faltering in 2023. Check out the video below.

In Memoriam: Sly Stone has passed away

Sly Stone, funk singer, songwriter, producer, and bandleader of Sly and the Family Stone, has passed away. He was 82 years old. He passed away following “a prolonged battle with COPD and other underlying health issues” on June 9, 2025 according to a statement released by his family. The statement reads, ”It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, Sly Stone of Sly and the Family Stone. After a prolonged battle with COPD and other underlying health issues, Sly passed away peacefully, surrounded by his three children, his closest friend, and his extended family. While we mourn his absence, we take solace in knowing that his extraordinary musical legacy will continue to resonate and inspire for generations to come. Sly was a monumental figure, a groundbreaking innovator, and a true pioneer who redefined the landscape of pop, funk, and rock music. His iconic songs have left an indelible mark on the world, and his influence remains undeniable. In a testament to his enduring creative spirit, Sly recently completed the screenplay for his life story, a project we are eager to share with the world in due course, which follows a memoir published in 2024. We extend our deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers during this difficult time. We wish peace and harmony to all who were touched by Sly’s life and his iconic music. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your unwavering support.”Sly and the Family Stone were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. Sly Stone’s final album I’m Back! Family and Friends was released in 2011 and he released his memoir Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) in 2024. We send our condolences to Sly Stone’s family, friends, and fans.
