In case you haven’t already heard, AFI‘s major label debut Sing the Sorrow turns 20 this year. Yes, 20 years have passed since 2003!
In addition to playing the album in its entirety at the Forum in Los Angeles, the band is releasing a 20th Anniversary colored vinyl reissue. This is the first official pressing since the record’s initial release.
You can get the 20th Anniversary 2xLP reissue of Sing the Sorrow on Red & Black Pinwheel Splatter colored vinyl here (and basically any independent record store in the US).
There’s also a Red w/ Black Smoke color variant that was initially thought to be limited to 2,000 copies and exclusive to that show at the Forum, but it’s since popped up on the official AFI webstore. I’m sure that’ll make all those eBay flippers nice and pissed.

Mighty Mighty Bosstones singer Dicky Barrett has started a new band called The Defiant. Other members include ex-Offspring drummer Pete Parada, longtime Street Dogs bassist Johnny Rioux, original Smash Mouth guitarist Greg Camp, and The Briggs frontman Joey Briggs. They’ve finished recording a 12-song debut album and plan to release it later this year. The band also posted teasers for two tracks, “Everybody Loves Me” and “No Nothing”, which you can check out below.
Barrett had the following to say about the new project:
“All I’ve ever really wanted to do is bring people together and share a message of peace, love, and unity. With that in mind, the music created by The Defiant could very well be some of the best I’ve ever had a hand in making, as well as one of the most important and thoughtful musical experiences of my career. I am thrilled to be a part of it.”
This will be Dicky Barrett’s first new music since the Bosstones broke up in early 2022, shortly after the release of their last album When God Was Great. After months of speculation regarding the band’s demise, the singer revealed in a recent interview that the breakup was due in part to his refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Pete Parada was fired by The Offspring under similar circumstances.
According to the band’s website, The Defiant plan on touring following their debut album’s release. We’ll keep you posted as we find out more.
The drummer of The Defiant , Peter Parada , plays in Tim Pool’s lame emo incel band. The Defiant claims just to be anti-vax, but they associate with Tim Pool —a racist, homophobic, misogynistic, right-winger. This is everything The Clash sang against (and I’m pretty sure the Street Dogs too?).
And I came with receipts:
I’m sorry there are enough drummers in the world that you don’t have to use one who helps out a dangerous fascist homophobe. I was a fan of the Street Dogs back in the day because I thought they were pro-human, sad to see Johnny Rioux, Joey LaRocca, and Dicky Barrett work creatively with fascist Pete Parada and the guy from Smash Mouth — Joe Strummer is looking down from heaven gagging.

Well this is one of my favorite stories of the year that is 2023. Well this is one of my favorite stories of the year that is 2023. As you probably know, the government in the State of Tennessee, which still somehow operates as though it’s the 1830s, passed a first-of-its-kind bill that restricts public performances of entertainers in drag. In a gigantic “Fuck You” to Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and the lawmakers who signed the terrible, harmful act into law, your favorite punk band’s favorite country band Vandoliers took to the stage in dresses for their Thursday evening show in Maryville, Tennessee.
Now, in an effort to raise funds for Knox Pride and the Tennessee Equality Project, a pair of kick-ass organizations working in the trenches to support the LGBTQ+ community in The Volunteer State, the band are auctioning off the stage-worn dresses they wore for that noteworthy Maryville throwdown. The auction goes live at Noon Central on Saturday, 3/4/23, and stays open for 48 hours. Winning bidders will be contacted Monday 3/6/23. The band will make separate Instagram posts with auction details for each of the six dresses. Bookmark this link and stay tuned tomorrow. Happy bidding!

In case you haven’t already heard of NOT, I’ll give you a brief rundown of what you’ve been missing out on. The band is from Los Angeles and features members of Sharp/Shock, Mercy Music & more. From the get-go, these guys had one goal in mind for this project: write and record original songs that faithfully recreate that distinct ALL/Descendents sound. And they did a damn good job.
After a few months of teasing us with some killer singles, NOT has finally spilled the beans on their debut album Stop the World. It’s due out April 14th on Wiretap Records, Brassneck Records, and Waterslide Records. You can listen to the brand new single “Alien” below and pre-order the record here (US) or here (UK)I don’t wanna jump the gun, but I think there’s serious Album of the Year potential here, folks.
NOT – Stop the World tracklist:
1. Stop The World 2. If Only 3. Hyperactive 4. Living On The Moon 5. Alien 6. Settle Down 7. Sorry Sometimes 8. Hella 9. Unfuck The World 10. Anxiety 11. Losing Control 12. Don’t Make Sense 13. The Last Time 14. Something Else

Epitaph Records is releasing a 25th anniversary vinyl reissue of ALL‘s classic 1998 record Mass Nerder. There are a bunch of color variants, and here’s where you can get all of them:
Was available here in early February but sold out. Potentially a Canadian Indie Exclusive.
Will update if this pops up anywhere else
Mass Nerder was ALL’s first release on Epitaph, following their very brief yet tumultuous stint on major label Interscope Records. This is one of four studio albums featuring the band’s longest tenured singer Chad Price on vocals.
This record also features my favorite ALL song “I’ll Get There” (“Until I Say So” is a very close second). Go ahead and hop in a pop-punk time machine back to the Summer ’98 with this stone cold classic:
