In case you missed our story about it earlier this week, my favorite Screeching Weasel record Anthem For A New Tomorrow is getting a 30th Anniversary reissue. Italy’s Striped Music is pressing the record on pink vinyl (limited to 500 copies). All copies come with a poster and CD; pre-order here. If you just want the compact disc ? for some reason (I mean, it does have bonus tracks!), you can buy it here.
Another one to file under “new pressing of an old record” is this new “Apple/Lemon” color variant (1,000 copies btw) of Pennywise‘s About Time. This LP came back in print a few years ago and Epitaph‘s been milking the fuck out of these variants ever since. But that’s cool, it’s a great album! Get your copy here.
How about some new music? We like new music, right guys? The Bar Stool Preachers have a new album called Above the Static due out March 31st on Pure Noise Records. Check out their music video for the latest single below and pre-order the LP here (they’ve got a bunch of cool color variants for those of you who are into that kinda thing (I’m into that kinda thing)).
Back to new plastic with old music etched into it…The Bronx‘s IV is back in print for the first time since its initial release in 2013. The variant in the picture appearing on your computer monitor (or the screen of your cellular device) is limited to 500 copies and can be obtained for fungible currency here. Go get ’em, tiger!
Oh shit! More new music! Ramones-worshiping Australian pop-punks the Rimmingtons are releasing their debut album Rocket to Rimtown February 6th on Hey Pizza! Records. Check out a few tracks below and pre-order the LP here (US ?) or here (AUS ?).
Rounding out the column this week is Something To Do Records with a new compilation featuring 15 awesome pop-punk bands, including the Budweisers, Goin’ Places, the Travoltas and many more (12 more to be exact ?). You can pre-order this killer LP here.

Screeching Weasel gets us started this week with the 30th Anniversary reissue of How to Make Enemies and Irritate People. The record has been remixed and remastered (just like their recent Anthem For a New Tomorrow reissue) and is available on yellow and red colored vinyl here (US) and here (EU). These Striped Music variants are about to sell out, but more colors will probably be coming soon.
German melodic punks Snackwolf have announced their debut album Lunch Breakdown, due out December 1st on 30 Kilo Fever Records. The latest single “Falling Apart” is now streaming and it’s fuckin bad ass – check it out below! If you’re in the US, you can get the record on green w/ yellow splattered colored vinyl from Punk Rock Radar. Our Bri’ish readers can get it from Cat’s Claw Records. If you’re in Germany (or elsewhere in Europe), Snackwolf’s Bandcamp is probably your best option to grab a copy of the record.
New York ramonescore trio The Young Rochelles have a brand new record out now on Sounds Rad Records. Kicked to the Curb is the band’s second LP, following their 2017 self-titled debut. Check out a few tracks below and get the record on beautiful colored vinyl here.
Austrian punk powerhouse DeeCracks are celebrating their 20th Anniversary with a 50-track 3×10” set featuring re-recordings of fan favorites and a few new songs. 20 Years: A Frantic Effort comes out next Friday on Pirates Press Records and is available on two different color variants here.
Also from Pirates Press: A new 7” from The Drowns! “Just The Way She Goes” and “1979 Trans Am” will both be appearing on the band’s upcoming album Blacked Out. But you can get them both now on this 7” (Ltd to 250 copies on green / 250 copies on gold wax) here.
SoCal power pop-punk band Odd Robot‘s new album Deathmates is out now on Wiretap Records. Featuring members of legendary Greenland pop-punk band The Maxies, this is their 3rd record! Get it on spearmint and/or crystal clear colored vinyl here.
Creator Destructor Records is reissuing A Wilhelm Scream‘s Partycrasher in honor of its 10th birthday. In addition to being remastered, this reissue limited to 500 copies features three bonus tracks and new cover art. Listen below; pre-order here.
Fall Out Boy’s debut album Take This To Your Grave also just turned 20 and is also getting an anniversary reissue. Hit up my man Bezos for the Amazon Exclusive black ice color variant. Also available on normal, non-iced black vinyl.
1979 San Francisco mayoral candidate Jello Biafra announced some records this week. Up first is a reissue of Last Scream of the Missing Neighbors, which features Mr. Biafra backed by D.O.A. Go here to get it on split yellow/black, solid yellow, or black colored vinyl (or all three variants if you’re sick in the head).
Alternative Tentacles also has a new pressing of Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine’s The Audacity of Hype up for pre-order on their webstore. This one’s back in print for the first time since 2009, with split red/blue, solid blue, and black colored wax coming in February, 2024.
The Wonder Years released a 12” acoustic EP for Record Store Day earlier this year. They pressed like 3,000 copies of that shit and considering you can still get it for like $20 on Discogs I assume there are still plenty floating around. Nonetheless, Hopeless has issued a second pressing of Burst & Decay (Live from New York), with 1,000 copies on some unnamed white-ish color variant. You can get that here.
Quebecois melodic punks Twenty2 are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of their debut album Dudes of Hazzard by releasing it on vinyl for the first time ever. The album has been remastered for vinyl and our friends at Thousand Islands Records are releasing it on pink colored wax. They’ve got a bundle with the band’s new record Dismissed on their webstore so you can get both LPs for just $30!
Ska Punk International continues their run new releases with killer variants that are very limited, with a new 10” EP from Long Island’s Mega Infinity. Check out the title track from Chaos Magick below and get the record on Magick Cornetto colored vinyl here / Chaos Splatter colored vinyl here.
Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace has a new solo album on the way. Hole in My Head is due out February 16th, 2024, and there are almost as many color variants of this as the new Green Day record. Check out the lead single below and go here for links to all the places you can buy all the pretty colors.
A few weeks ago we told you about the first-ever vinyl release of Frenzal Rhomb‘s Forever Malcolm Young. Now SBÄM Records is double dipping into your wallet with this “Creation Splatter” (not sure what that means but the mock up looks sweet) color variant, limited to 100 copies and only available on their EU webstore.
And batting cleanup this week is No Use For A Name‘s More Betterness, which is once again available on colored vinyl on Fat’s webstore. It’s worth noting this isn’t a new pressing, these are just “leftover” copies from the recent NUFAN Black Box box set, so if you already have that save your money. This record will probably be getting a 25th Anniversary reissue next year regardless.

We’re starting off this week’s Record Radar strong with new pressings of not one, but two classic Suicide Machines records! Asbestos Records has repressed Destruction By Definition and Battle Hymns for the first time in a decade. Head over to their webstore to grab a copy of each record on one of three color variants (or succumb to your addiction and buy three copies of each!).
And hey while you’re over there, Asbestos also reissued the Suburban Legends’ Rump Shaker for its 20th birthday. One of the variants already sold out and the red swirl colored LPs are almost gone, too. Get your copy here.
Continuing our ska-heavy start to this week’s column, Asian Man Records is next up to bat with the first ever vinyl release of the 1999 MU330 Christmas album Winter Wonderland. Limited to 500 copies on green vinyl – get it here.
And Less Than Jake will put a bow on the ska portion of this Record Radar, with the latest batch of color variants for their 25th Anniversary Hello Rockview reissue. Three new variants of the 2xLP deluxe reissue were announced last week and they’ve all sold out. However! LTJ also just announced a 2024 leg of their Hello Rockview anniversary tour, so perhaps those who missed out will have a shot at another tour variant? Here are all the color variants so far:

Oh wow, a new release! Portland Ramonescore troupe Mean Jeans will be releasing a new album in February, 2024 on Fat Wreck Chords. It’s called Blasted and the first single “I Don’t Give a Shit Anymore” is streaming now. Get the record here.
The non-Jello Biafra sanctioned “2022 Mix” of the Dead Kennedys’ Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables has a new color variant exclusive to our friends at Newbury Comics, home of the $35 record. They pressed 750 copies of this new Clear Smoke color variant for some reason; wait a few months and you’ll probably find this in Newbury’s $9.99 section along with the rest of their landfill fodder.
Speaking of expensive records, this one’s a doozy. Screeching Weasel‘s Kill the Musicians has been released on vinyl for the very first time, 28 years after its original CD release on Lookout! Records. Here’s the catch: this is a long-ass record (the runtime’s a little over an hour). So you’d expect it to be a 2xLP release, right? Wrong. They’ve split it across two separate “volumes”, each of which is $30. So the choice is yours, get a CD copy off discogs starting at $9 or fork over $60 for two separately released large, colorful etched plastic discs.
SBÄM Records continues the trend of old albums getting first time vinyl releases, announcing a very limited colored vinyl release of Authority Zero‘s 12:34. The 2007 album is available on two splatter variants, each limited to 150 copies. Grab yours here.
Short-lived Dan Andriano fronted Chicago punk band Tuesday’s lone album Free Wheelin is back in print once again thanks to Asian Man Records. This 4th pressing is limited to 300 copies on random colored vinyl. Get it here.
German punk veterans Wizo have a new album called Nichts Wird Wieder Gut (I believe this means “nothing will be good again”) coming out in January. Check out one of the singles below and get the record on clear vinyl (Ltd to 500 copies) here.
Bad Time Records has announced a 2xLP compilation featuring live recordings of We Are the Union, Kill Lincoln, Joystick & more from the 2023 Bad Time Records Tour. In addition to featuring four exclusive tracks, the records come in a gatefold jacket with a poster included. They’ve got three color variants up for pre-order here.
An official repressing of the Misfits’ Collection has been announced, just in time for Halloween… er Christmas… uhh I mean next Easter! This Record Store Day Essentials release on glow in the dark colored vinyl will hit store shelves March 22nd, 2024. You can pre-order it here or from your local record store (assuming you have one).
Chris from the Lawrence Arms’ acoustic side project Sundowner’s debut album Four One Five Two has gotten a new pressing for the first time since its original release in 2011. I don’t know how many copies of this white vinyl reissue Red Scare pressed but it looks like it’s almost sold out – get your copy here.
Australian melodic punks The Decline are bringing up the rear on this week’s Record Radar. Their 2019 album Flash Gordon Ramsay Street is back in print on a beautiful new color variant. Asian Man Records is starting this week’s column with a bang ? The Chinkees‘ three full-length albums are getting their first new pressings in over 20 years! Or, in the case of 2001’s Searching For A Brighter Future, the first vinyl release ever. The Chinkees are coming! Pre-order these ska masterpieces here.
In case you somehow missed the news earlier this week, Samiam announced their first new album in over a decade. Stowaway is due out March 31st on Pure Noise Records. On the vinyl side of things, there are a ton of color variants. Our friends at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records have an exclusive (ltd. to 300 copies), which you can get here. Pure Noise has one variant left in stock on their US store and UK store. If you’re fine with plain jane black vinyl, Amazon‘s the cheapest place to grab a copy.
About a month ago Striped Music launched pre-orders for their first pressing of Screeching Weasel‘s 30th anniversary Anthem For A New Tomorrow reissue. It was limited to 500 copies on pink vinyl and it sold out in a few hours, with Striped promising a second pressing will be coming. Good news! You don’t have to wait for that second pressing because some more copies have popped up here. I’m sure shipping to the US is horrendous, but this is good for our European friends who missed out initially. Recess Records should be putting up pre-orders for their variants at some point.

Epitaph Records repressed a bunch of stuff this week, so we’re filing all this under Epitaph Stuff. The first piece of Epitaph Stuff is a Choking Victim‘s No Gods / No Managers, back in print on clear vinyl, limited to 500 copies. Like the other Epitaph Stuff we’ll be covering, the only place to get this is the label’s Kings Road Merch store.
Our next piece of Epitaph Stuff is a long awaited repressing of Alkaline Trio‘s This Addiction. This bad boy’s back in print for the first time since its 2010 release (can you believe that was 13 fucking years ago?! ?). It’s limited to 1,000 copies on “Toxic Green” colored vinyl and you can buy it with money here.
Off With Their Heads‘ Home turns 10 this year (time sure does fly), and it’s getting repressed for the first time since its initial release. They’re also playing the album in its entirety on their upcoming tour. Get the new black w/ gold swirl color variant (limited to 500 copies) here.
And our last piece of Epitaph Stuff is actually a new release! Santa Cruz hardcore punx DRAIN announced their new album Living Proof. It’s due out on May 5th. Newbury Comics has a colored vinyl reissue of the Groovie Ghoulies‘ 1999 LP Fun in the Dark (limited to 300 copies) up on their store. Our European friends can grab an ever-so-slightly different color variant on Stardumb Records‘ webstore. Shit, with how much Newbury charges for records, it might even make sense for my fellow Americans to order from Stardumb (shipping might kill it idk, it’s worth looking into though). This Lookout! Records classic is another record that’s been out of print for 20+ years.
Bringing up the rear on this week’s Record Radar is a brand new release from our friends at Punk Rock Radar. They’re putting out British punk band Clayface‘s debut LP Ailments with a bunch of other awesome labels like Cat’s Claw Records and White Russian Records. Up first this week we have the new album from Me First and the Gimme Gimmes¡Blow it…at Madison’s Quinceanera!. In addition to being the band’s first album in a decade, this is also the first record to feature Strung Out’s Jake Kiley on guitar and CJ Ramone on bass. And like most Fat Wreck releases lately, the colored vinyl already sold out before this week’s Record Radar could go live, which is truly unfortunate. You can still get it on black wax and/or compact disc (otherwise known as CD by those in the trade) here in the US, here in Europe, and here in Australia.
The Offspring’s Smash turns 30 this year and though it doesn’t seem like it’s going to get a reissue with bonus content or anything, the record has gotten repressed on some new colors. So far two variants have been announced: the pearl variant, which is already sold out on the band’s webstore, and the green variant, which is limited to 300 copies and available exclusively at the Punk Rock Museum in Vegas. There’s also the previously announced Record Store Day Essentials “milky clear” color variant that you can get from your local record store, or here.
The MxPx marketing machine thought fast and capitalized on the very short-lived solar eclipse hype. One of many variants of the band’s new album Find a Way Home came with alternate cover art in a die cut jacket showing the printed inner sleeve; you could flip it to show the sun (or maybe it’s an asteroid, idk) or the moon through the cutout. Well they took that same color variant and swapped out the inner sleeve with one that has some solar eclipse art, so that’s cool I guess. You can buy it here if you’d like.
In other MxPx-related vinyl news, some new color variants of the 2018 self-titled album recently popped up on the band’s merch store as well. I’m not sure how limited they are, but can get the record on “Let’s Ride Red” and “The Way We Do Blue” right here. And one last thing before I move on, if anyone involved in the operation of the MxPx Merch Arsenal happens to reading this, you fuckers need to re-enable Media Mail as a shipping option because there’s no way in fuck I’m paying you $14 to ship a single record with USPS Ground Advantage. Sweet Christ.
The friendly people at Mom’s Basement Records are releasing The Young Hasselhoffs‘ The Obsolete Man on vinyl for the very first time, 13 years after its original CD release. This is limited to 50 copies on clear w/ black splatter, 100 copies on white marble, and 100 copies on white w/ black splatter colored vinyl. You can get all three here.
Screeching Weasel side project turned Chicago punk cult favorites Sludgeworth reunited in 2022 and in 2024 they’re releasing their first new music in over 30 years. The band’s new 7″ features two brand new songs, “Together, Not Together” and “Foundation”, and it’s due out May 17th on Red Scare. Check out a live recording of one of the tracks below and pre-order the 7″ here.
Asbestos Records just put some cool records up on their store, the first of which is this first time vinyl release of 2002’s The Least Worst of the Suicide Machines. Like the Young Hasselhoffs record I talked about earlier, this had only ever been released on CD previously. But now you can get it right here on slime green colored vinyl! (limited to 800 copies), or black wax (limited to 100 copies, exclusive to Asbestos Records Subscription Club members (sign up here)), and white vinyl (ltd. to 100 copies). The last one is supposedly a “Ska Fests Exclusive”, see the Suicide Machines‘ upcoming tour dates here.
Also available from Asbestos Records: Spring Heeled Jack‘s new live album Live from the Legendary Toad’s Place. This was recorded at the band’s 2010 reunion shows at, you guessed it, Toad’s Place in their hometown New Haven, CT. It’s limited to 300 copies on orange colored vinyl and you can get it here. SHJ will be playing some shows to commemorate the record release over the next few weeks; go here to check out the dates.
And last up to bat from Asbestos is Sonic Boom Six’s new compilation album Re:Generation. Unlike the orange variant that was released last month in the UK, this US exclusive purple color variant is a 2xLP with a bunch of bonus tracks on that second LP. Add it to your cart before you check out with those Suicide Machines and Spring Heeled Jack LPs, and catch the band touring the US’ east coast this week.
Samiam‘s 2000 album Astray has been repressed on a few new color variants: Smartpunk Records has it on the very wordily named Red/Coke Bottle Clear/Yellow Tri-Split Vinyl which is limited to 300 copies, Down in the Valley Records has 300 copies on Yellow w/ Red/Orange Splatter, and there’s a plain yellow variant you can get on Hopeless Records webstore and probably in record stores once it releases on June 26th – they pressed 900 copies of that one.
Brooklyn’s Radar (no affiliation with the Dying Scene Record Radar) will be releasing their self-titled debut LP on May 17th via Dead Broke Rekerds. Check out the schweet music video for the lead single “Doesn’t Matter” and pre-order the record here.
Also from Dead Broke Rekereds! Another cassette release infiltrates the Record Radar – this time it’s New England punk band Doc Hopper’s career spanning compilation Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blew. Previously released on a very limited # of CD-ROM, you can now get it on a very limited # of green cassette tapes riiiight here (that # is 100, btw). Speaking of cassettes, if you like collecting punk rock on cassettes, Dead Broke has a lot of other awesome punk rock cassettes. So many, in fact, that they dedicated an entire section of their distro to the format. Very nice!
Death By Stereo’s first two records If Looks Could Kill, I’d Watch You Die and Day of the Death have been repressed. The first one’s available on silver colored vinyl right here; the 2019 repress on purple wax is still in stock, too. The latter is back in print for the first time in almost a decade, with a new glow in the dark green color variant that you can buy with money here.
Los Angeles’ Matamoska have a new record coming May 17th (seems like that’s a popular date to put out a new record) on Bad Time Records. The band’s self-titled LP is limited to 350 copied on “Deep Purple” colored vinyl, which you can get here, and 250 copied on “Highlighter Yellow” colored vinyl, which you’ll be receiving in the mail in a few weeks if you’re a Bad Time Record Club member.

Greetings, fellow degenerates! Welcome to the latest installment of the Dying Scene Record Radar. If it’s your first time here, thank you for joining us! This is a weekly column where we cover all things punk rock vinyl. In addition to new releases and reissues, this week we’ll also be highlighting some Black Friday sales on vinyl records that may interest you. British punks Grade 2 have a new self-titled album on the way. The record produced by Rancid‘s Tim Amstrong is due out in February 2023 on Hellcat Records. Check out their new single “Under the Streetlight” below, and go here for links to where all the different color variants of the LP can be purchased.
If you read our latest Ten Underrated Punk Bands That Should Be On Your Radar column, you know who SACK is. If you didn’t read it (fuck you, why didn’t you read it? I worked really hard on that!) SACK is fronted by Kody Templeman (Teenage Bottlerocket, Lillingtons, etc.). Their new record Ripper!was released on CD earlier this year, and is now finally available on vinyl thanks to the friendly people at Red Scare. Pre-order this beast here.
Also from Red Scare (in case you missed our story about it earlier this week): A first-time vinyl release of Sludgeworth‘s Losers of the Year. For those who aren’t in the know, this was a short lived project of Screeching Weasel‘s Dan Vapid that also featured his SW bandmate Brian Vermin on drums. This album was originally released on CD in 1995 through Lookout! Records, and old school pop-punk aficionados have been clamoring for a vinyl reissue for a long time. The wait is over! Punk supergroup Fake Names (ft. members of Bad Religion, Refused, Fugazi, etc.) have announced their new album Expendableswill be released on March 3rd, 2023 through Epitaph Records. Check out the first single “Delete Myself” below, and pre-order the record here (yellow vinyl, US) or here (“black & white galaxy” vinyl, EU).
And because you can never have enough Fat Wreck Chords in your life, here’s another new release from Fat! NOFX frontman Fat Mike has teamed up with Get Dead‘s Sam King on a new project called Codefendants. A few Record Radars ago, we let you that the Transplants‘ self-titled debut album was getting a 20th Anniversary reissue. Well, those sold out really fucking quick so Hellcat Records has announced some additional, retailer-exclusive color variants. 1-2-3-4! Go Records and Smartpunk each have their own unique variants here in the US, and Banquet Records has an EU exclusive “cool blue” color variant.
Pirates Press Records is reissuing all seven Cock Sparrer LPs in honor of the band’s 50th Anniversary. You can get them individually for 20 bucks each, or as a set for $125 (that’s a savings of 15 dollars, folks!). No pretty colors here, just good ol’ black wax.
Just in time for the holiday season, Chris Farren‘s Like a Gift from God or Whatever is back in print on neon green colored vinyl. Head over to Asian Man Records‘ webstore and get a piece of this yuletide wax ?
Fraser from the Murderburgers is a busy guy! In addition to his current band Wrong Life (featured in Dying Scene’sTen Underrated Punk Bands You Need To Check Out Right Nowcolumn) he has now announced another project called Absolute Melt. Check out the single “2am (The Face Changes Shape)” below, and go here to pre-order their upcoming 10″ EP. All profits from physical and digital sales will go to Scottish Women’s Aid, who help women, children and young people in Scotland affected by domestic abuse.
Black Friday Sales
The first Black Friday sale we’ll be highlighting comes to us from the purveyors of pop-punk at Mom’s Basement Records. For one day only, everything on their webstore (including that awesome distro section with The Windowsill‘s album that I just gave a 5-Star review ?) will be 30% off! Merchbar’s entire store is perpetually “on sale”, but their Black Friday Preview sale sees stuff marked down a bit more than usual. The sale has already started, and considering it ends in three days, I assume they’ll be having a proper BF sale later in the week. If you’re just looking for punk records and don’t want to waste precious time searching, you can find most of them here. Some highlights include the Ramones‘ Rocket to Russia ($17.99), NOFX‘s Pump Up the Valuum ($15.99), and Operation Ivy‘s Energy ($15.99).
If you’re looking for some gifts for the rude boy (or girl) in your life, Jump Up Records has you covered. They’re not having a sale per se, but they do have some awesome new shit on their webstore for Black Friday, including brand new reissues of some 90’s Moon Ska LPs, alongside a bunch of 7″s, CDs, and cassettes. Everyone’s favorite indie record store Walmart is having a sale of their own. All vinyl records are $15 in-store at all Walmart locations (exclusives are discounted on their website as well). I’ve seen plenty of pearl-clutching going on about this sale, but I don’t give a fuck ? There are some good deals to be had here. I got The Clash‘s 3xLP Combat Rock + The People’s Hall for $15. There were a ton of WM’s new exclusive pressings of Green Day‘s American Idiot and International Superhits at my local store as well. There’s an ample supply of soundtracks and Luke Combs records, too, if you’re into that kinda thing. Sale ends Sunday, November 20th.
And of course, Wally World’s red competitor Tarshay has a sale, too. Starting Sunday, November 20th, all records (and movies, CDs, misc. other media) will be Buy 2, Get 1 Free. Is that cheaper than Walmart? I don’t know, I’m too lazy to do that math (probably not though). This sale will be online and in store, and there’s no limit on how many records you can buy. So if you really want all 375 copies of the new Adele album your local Target has in stock, load up that god damn cart!
Last but not least, we have Record Store Day Black Friday. Again, not much in the way of deals here, but there are some exclusive releases that may interest you. In addition to the 10th Anniversary reissue of Masked Intruder‘s debut LP we highlighted last week, you may also be interested in Goldfinger‘s Hello Destiny (reissued in honor of its 15th Anniversary), and a new Joe Strummer live acoustic album Live at Music Millennium. For the second week in a row, we’ve got an absolutely massive column, featuring nearly 20 records that got announced this week! One of my favorite records of 2023, Italian skate punks Wasei‘s new album Vulgar Misplay of Burkett, is now available in the US! Head over to Punk Rock Radar’s webstore to grab this ripper on pink vinyl, along with other awesome releases from Clayface, Baxter, Weekend Cigarettes & more.
This project was announced months ago, but now it’s available on vinyl! Fat Mike Gets Strung Outis a collection of songs Mr. Burkett has written (for NOFX and otherwise), which have been reimagined as orchestral pieces. If that’s something you feel like you need in your life, get the record here. Standalone colored vinyl sold out, but you can still get it on black wax (or fork over for one of the bundles with a colored LP and shirt).
Australian punks Clowns have a new album on the way! It’s called Endless, and it’s due out October 20th on Fat Wreck Chords. On the vinyl side of things, there are a ton of color variants for this thing – at least 9 that I’m aware of. Pre-order the record here (US), here (EU, pink), here (EU, green w/ white & silver splater), or here (AUS). There will be a ton of indie variants as well, so check with your local record store on those.
New Jersey’s Joker’s Republic released one of my favorite ska-punk albums last year, but until now it was only available on CD. The band has joined forces with Ska Punk International to give Necessary Evil the vinyl release it deserves. This album was recorded and produced by Less Than Jake’s Roger Lima at The Moathouse. Long running German street punk band Stomper 98 have announced their new self-titled album, due out September 1st. It’s the band’s seventh LP in their 25 year career, and the second to feature Rancid‘s Lars Frederiksen on guitar. Check out the music video for lead single “Alex – Schatten der Nacht” below and pre-order the record here.
Cleveland pop-punks Normy follow up their 2022 EP What on God’s Green Earth? with a new 6-song 12″ titled What the Fuck Planet Are These Guys From?. It’s due out September 8th on Smartpunk Records – check out the first single “Idiot” below. Pre-order the record here, there are three color variants, each with a screen printed B-Side.

Mom’s Basement and Monster Zero Records rarely miss, and they hit a fucking grand slam with their latest release from The Haermorrhoids. Camp Punksylvania is a three-day punk rock festival happening September 1st-3rd in Scranton, PA. A few names on the absolutely bitchin’ lineup include the Suicide Machines, A Wilhelm Scream, Belvedere & Tsunami Bomb. Los Angeles hardcore veterans DFL‘s 1993 debut My Crazy Life is getting its first-ever vinyl release, thanks to Trust Records. Two color variants: blue wax is limited to 250 copies, green is limited to 500. The record has been remastered and comes with a sweet looking fanzine. Get it here.
Pirates Press released a Subhumans box set earlier this year. It sold out instantly and is now selling for over $400 on Discogs. Good news for those who missed out: it’s getting a second pressing! The Queers returned to Chicago, headlining at Reggie’s Rock Club on December 7, 2022. Playing in support were Don’t Panic, Capgun Heroes, and Goodbye Sunshine. The midweek show was a high octane show from start to finish.
The Queers is celebrating its 40th Anniversary. Joe Queer is the only founding member active in the group, but its spirit remains alive. Queer bounded around the stage, matching his younger bandmates’ energy as they zoomed through their set, including “Ursula Finally Has Tits,” “Fuck the World,” and “This Place Sucks.” The Queers also performed covers of Screeching Weasel’s “Like a Parasite,” and Ramones‘ “The KKK Took My Baby Away.” The 17+ show crowd tore up the circle pit and one even did literal backflips in tune to the music coming from the stage. The sheer number of The Queers logos on the younger fans’ clothes and even inked in their skin demonstrated that four decades on, the band, and its music, still strike a chord with many fans, old and new.
Don’t Panic, out of Stroudsberg, PA, brought a high level of enthusiasm to its time on stage. Lyrics such as, “Pretending to be someone else or lying to hide the fact she was afraid,” from “Ramona,” and the title/lyrics of their latest single, “Friends Make Better Enemies” delivered in an upbeat manner can be intoxicating. Certainly, sometimes more so than laments and wistful memories encased in equally mournful music. Don’t Panic remained consistent as the band members Ted Felicetti, AJ Larsen, Keith Slader, and Anthony Paesano continued through a setlist that also included “Watership Down,” “Woe I,” and “Fall of ’99.” The band connected with the audience and at one point took a group photo with the crowd. It’s apparently a regular part of its performances. Rather than seeming derivative, there was warmth to it not often enough associated with a punk rock show.
Since its founding in 2018, Chicago’s own Capgun Heroes has steadily been building a devoted fan base. The songs are short bursts of utterly infectious music and lyrics. “Judy” is a call back to the protagonist of the Ramones classic “Judy Is A Punk.” In this case, the assertion being that Judy is no longer a punk, nor does she even like Ramones. Indeed, Capgun Heroes makes no secret of its affection for the legends out of Forest Hills, Queens. Along with the aforementioned tune, Joe Capgun, Matt Cappy, Nick Nativo, Jimmy C, Scotty Lars, and Andy Hero zipped through “Back it Up,” “Lobotomy,” “Nuthouse,” “Wanna Go,” and “Operation Chaos,” among others. Name-checking bands and places from its hometown, the band got the heads of those in attendance bopping and their toes tapping. Every once in a while I caught myself joining in, even as I tried to document the set. It made for a few shots a bit too blurry for use, but I had a blast.
Goodbye Sunshine, is newer Chicago band whose debut EP, Keep Failing, You’re Doing Great! was produced and engineered by Joe Queer, who also contributed guest vocals. The band, comprised of August Fllr, Shane Shultz, Ryan Scaccia, and Brad St. Leger, did a fine job of starting out the night with a solid performance. The tight set included, among others, the entire five-song EP. Those five being, “Hide and Seek,” “Plugger,” “She Doesn’t Care Anymore,” “What You Don’t Know,” and “Outlaws In Charleston, Illinois.” If this night is any indication, they won’t start failing anytime soon.

Hello, and welcome to the February, 2023 edition of Dylan’s Favorite Punk Albums, EPs & Things! This is the column where I, Dylan (otherwise known as Screeching Bottlerocket), tell you what new punk rock albums, EPs, singles, etc. I enjoyed the most this month. I’m happy to announce that starting this month, this will be a collaborative effort with our friends at Punk Rock Radar. I’m a sucker for a good Ramonescore record, and this debut LP from Sydney, Australia’s Rimmingtons is a really fucking good Ramonescore record. Check out Rocket to Rimtown below and grab it on beautiful colored vinyl here (US) or here (AUS).
I learned a long time ago not to judge a band by its name, folks. Ontario’s Hellaphant is the latest awesome band I discovered thanks to my strict adherence to that rule. If you’re into hooky pop-punk, their new album Crumble and Rise is required listening. Hit ’em up on Bandcamp to get the album on LP, cassette, etc.
I’m a longtime fan of Fraser Murderburger’s work and his latest project Wrong Life is absolutely not an exception. I really enjoyed the band’s first two EPs that culminated in 2022’s Early Workings of an Idea. This new self-titled is another step up when it comes to songwriting and production quality. These are some of the most sincere songs Fraser has ever put out. “The Quartermile” is probably my favorite track, but “Living in the Key of Hope” is a close second since we got to host the exclusive premiere for its music video. Our next stop on this punk rock trip around the globe is Germany, where we are greeted by Empire Me. These guys have been around for a decade, but this is the first time I’m hearing of them. The band brings the heat on their debut full-length I’m Out. This is an excellent melodic punk album; it reminds me a lot of another great band whose name I can’t remember right now. Download it for $5 on Bandcamp.
So I guess Fat Heaven‘s new record isn’t really a “new record”, it’s a compilation album of previously released EP tracks… but there’s four new songs, too! Anyway, I hadn’t heard of these guys before their music video for “Quarter Life Crisis” caught my eye while doom scrolling Instagram at 3am. Trash Life is a great introduction to this super fun Brooklyn pop-punk band. Listen below and get it on colored vinyl here.
WHEN THE WALLS FELL Build Back Better
When The Walls Fell is one of many bands John from Punk Rock Radar introduced me to this month. Perhaps you saw our Band Spotlight on them? Build Back Better is the second full-length album from this “transatlantic punk band” with members in New York and Poole, England. It’s very good! The guitar playing is great (actually, it’s very intimidating to me as a mediocre guitar player). Name your price for this one on Bandcamp.
SCREECHING WEASEL Anthem for a New Tomorrow (30th Anniversary Reissue)
Alright this one probably don’t count, but I don’t give a fuck, I’m counting it. Anthem for a New Tomorrow is my favorite Screeching Weasel album (and one of the greatest pop-punk records of all time in my humble opinion). Mike Kennerty and the gang put a shiny new coat of paint on this beast and, though it may seem sacrilegious, I like it a lot. Check out my review.
I’m letting my Floridian bias show here, but I can’t help it. There’s something about Florida and ska that just works. The songs on Fort Myers ska-punks Bargain Bin Heroes‘ new EP Waiting for so Long are their best yet. If you’re a Less Than Jake enjoyer, you’ll like these guys. They actually just played with LTJ at the Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale; hopefully everyone showed up early and skanked it up for Bargain Bin Heroes!
It’s awesome when music grabs you right from the get-go. Something about this debut EP from Peterborough, England’s Sprainer just clicked with me. I love it and can’t wait to hear more from these guys (blokes?). Listen below, buy it here.
Mixing skate punk and ska is something you’ve gotta be real fucking good to pull off. Finland’s Strum 101 is real fucking good. Their new EP Trial and Error is excellent and inspired me to go back and check out their back catalog, and you know what? That stuff’s real fucking good, too! Check ’em out, all their shit’s on Bandcamp.
Frenzal Rhomb is coming off two of the best albums in their illustrious career. Does The Cup of Pestilence have what it takes to top those records? Of course it does! How dare you question Frenzal’s excellence. This lead single is killer, I can’t wait to hear more.
Before we leave Australia, let’s take a moment to appreciate this new song from Frenzal Rhomb’s countrymen in Fake News. These guys are a great up-and-coming band that needs to be on your radar if you like skate punk as much as I do. “Rise & Fall” is the second single from their upcoming EP Take Me Away. Check out the music video below and keep an eye out for that EP.
This list needs some more ska, and our Bri’ish friends Faintest Idea are the right band for the job. “Kill Em Dead” is from their long-awaited new album The Road to Sedition, due out March 31st on TNS Records and Jump Start Records. Recommended listening if you’re into harder edged ska-punk like the Suicide Machines.
February saw the release of two new singles from the hottest new band in skate punk: Bridge The Gap. Their highly anticipated debut LP Secret Kombinations was recorded with Bill Stevenson at The Blasting Room. All the singles have been top notch; the hype is deserved. Check out the tracks below and pre-order the record here.
And back to Australia we go! Newcastle’s Long Distance make a very good first impression with their debut single “Left for Dead”. These skate punk (are you sensing a theme here?) newcomers have a bit of a poppy slant that I enjoy. Check ’em out and stay tuned for their second single “What You Want” and eventual debut EP.
OMNIGONE “Against the Rest”
Skate punk and ska: that’s apparently all I fucking listen to. Anyway, here’s another ska song. It’s the first single off Omnigone‘s new album Against the Rest, which is due out March 31st on the ska powerhouse that is Bad Time Records. Two former members of Link 80 are in this East Bay ska-core band, and if you like Link 80 (or Against All Authority, Voodoo Glow Skulls, or any other hardcore-infused ska bands), I can say with full confidence you will like these guys. Music video down there, pre-order over here.
Alright, now that our monthly ska quota has been met, time for some more skate punk! I’ve been pimping this (one man) band out for a few months now and I’m not stopping any time soon. Montreal’s Dead Alright is dropping new singles all the time. The latest one “Parasites” is a great song. Listen to it below and stay tuned for more on their debut album; release date TBA on Thousand Islands Records.
Look, it’s another Canadian skate punk band on Thousand Islands Records! I promise they’re not paying me to heap praise on their bands, that label just puts out really good shit. Debt Cemetary‘s new single is awesome! I think it’s time these guys released an album, eh? Fun fact: the singer from this band makes a guest appearance on that Dead Alright song I just talked about.
Baton Rouge, Louisiana’s Red Atlanta reminds me a lot of early 2000’s pop-punk but faster and with really cool lead guitar parts. Their new single “Reaching Out” has a kinda Slick Shoes-ish vibe. Check it out and if you like it, go back and listen to the band’s 2019 debut album Unsettled. Also keep an eye out for a next album coming soon.
Brighton, England’s Making Friends are either named after a No Use For A Name album or a Lagwagon song, so that should give you a good idea of what their music sounds like. They just put out a great new single called “Damage Control”. Check out the music video for it below and stay tuned for more on the band’s upcoming album.

February was a busy month for the Dying Scene Record Radar! The biggest announcement in the world of punk rock vinyl was probably the 25th Anniversary reissue of ALL‘s Mass Nerder. Hello, and welcome to the April, 2023 edition of Dylan’s Favorite Punk Albums, EPs & Things! This is the column where I, Dylan aka Screeching Bottlerocket, tell you what new punk rock albums, EPs and singles I enjoyed the most this month.

Australia’s finest Frenzal Rhomb pick up right where they left off on Hi-Vis High Tea and Smoko At the Pet Food Factory. I had this penciled in as one of my most anticipated releases of the year, and unsurprisingly, it did not disappoint. Read my album review here.
Here’s another one you’ve probably seen a lot of hype for on the pages of Dying Scene (and elsewhere) over the last few months. NOT is a new ALL / Descendents inspired project featuring members of Mercy Music, Sharp/Shock & others. This record is excellent and reminds me most of Chad Price-era ALL albums like Mass Nerder and Problematic, while still sounding fresh and original.
Manchester, UK’s Clayface made a great first impression with their debut album Ailments. Some of the songs have a cool Lawrence Arms-meets-Dead To Me kinda feel, but I’d place the overarching sound into the “orgcore” category. Fast and loose, rough-around-the-edges punk. If you like basically anything Epitaph or Fat Wreck Chords released in the 90’s, you’ll wanna check out this new record from Italian skate punks Wasei. Vulgar Misplay of Burkett aces that classic Epifat feel without feeling stale or unoriginal in the slightest. Listen to the album below and get it on vinyl / CD here.
Here’s another one for the orgcore enjoyers (ya know, that used to be a dirty word around these parts, but I’m using it quite liberally now!). It’s another debut album, this time from Texas punks Debunker. Misfortunes reminds me a lot of early Banner Pilot, especially the Pass the Poison EP. Super fast, great hooks, cool guitar parts. I like these guys and I think you will, too! Listen below; buy on Bandcamp.
I’m not usually a big Oi! / street punk guy, but I’ll make an exception for this record from Las Vegas’ Fool’s Errand. Songs like the album opener “It’s a Problem” are slower and bordering on pub rock; others like “Know What I Mean” and “That’s Yer Lot” are fast as fuck and closer to a mix of Rancid and Bombshell Rocks. The whole record’s awesome, though. Get it on limited colored vinyl here.
Anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge old school pop-punk fan. If you like any band that was on Lookout! in the 90’s (Screeching Weasel, The Queers, Squirtgun, MTX, etc.), I have no doubt you’ll like this debut album from Corpus Christi, Texas’ Öldie Häwn. Nothing revolutionary going on here, but this is an extremely solid Ramonescore record.
DS Band Spotlight alumni, Oslo, Norway’s Fights showcase their signature “boogiecore” (hardcore punk mixed with boogie rock) sound on their debut album Scampirock. It’s hard to explain what that sounds like, so I’ll just advise you to listen to it. This is a bad ass record.
I’mma be honest, folks. I wasn’t that stoked on the last Teenage Bottlerocket album; it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything special either. So when I found out all four songs on their new 7″ So Dumb / So Stoked were tracks that didn’t make the cut for that album, I wasn’t too stoked on it either. Surprisingly, though, I like these songs more than most of that record. I think “It Wasn’t Enough” is the best of the bunch. Listen below; get the 7″ here.
Australian pop-punks The Malphs‘ debut EP Sometimes I Think About You delivers six tracks of Ramonescore perfection. Check it out below, get the 7″ here (US) or here (AUS) and download the EP on Bandcamp.
Look, another debut EP from an Australian pop-punk band! Newcastle’s Long Distance plays a very different kind of pop-punk from The Malphs, though. The band cites influences like Blink-182, Sum 41, New Found Glory, etc. and that’s evident in the sound on their four song debut EP Left for Dead.
“Bridges” is the second single from SoCal skate punk veterans Jughead’s Revenge‘s comeback EP Vultures, which is is due out May 5th on SBÄM Records. Pre-order the 12″ EP here (US) / here (EU), and check out the last single “I’ll Be Seeing You” if you haven’t already done so.
Rancid caught everyone by surprise with the announcement of their new album Tomorrow Never Comes, and I’ve seen a lot of people lauding the album’s lead single (and title track) as a return to form for the band. I agree – this song is better than anything on their last two records – and I’m excited to see if the album makes the grade when it releases on June 2nd through Hellcat Records.
We hosted the exclusive premiere(!) for Dutch punks Ink Bomb‘s music video for their new single “Theme Song”. The video’s awesome, the song’s great. Can’t wait to hear the new album these guys (and girl) are working on.
I’ve been waiting for some new music from Barcelona’s Acid Snot since their debut album Attitudes was released in 2016, so I was really excited when I saw the band signed to Thousand Islands and Lockjaw Records. “Biopsy” is their first new song in 7 years, and it’s a real ripper. This is a big step up from that debut album. Looking forward to more to come from Acid Snot!
REHASHER “Rabbit Hole”
Roger Lima simply does not miss, folks. The Less Than Jake bassist / co-frontman’s melodic punk side project Rehasher has long been one of my favorite bands. Their new single “Rabbit Hole” is the latest in a long line of bangers. I honestly can’t name a single bad Rehasher song.
“Fenix” is the latest single from Barcelona skate punks Flying Frogs‘ upcoming album WTF Is Going On, due out later this year on 20 Chords Records and Melodic Punk Style. It’s been 7 years since their last record Playing Again came out, but they haven’t missed a beat. Check out the music video for “Fenix” below.
Another recent pickup by our friends at Thousand Islands Records, SoCal melodic punks Strike Twelve are gearing up to release their new album new album Last Band Standing on June 30th. Check out the music video for the lead single “Smart Phones, Stupid People” below and pre-order the record here.
“I’m A Rat” is the final song Japanese punk veterans Hi-Standard recorded with drummer Akira Tsuneoka before his untimely passing in February. It’s a super fast skate punk song (supposedly written by Fat Mike) that recaptures the raw energy of albums like Angry Fist and Making the Road. Fat Wreck Chords is releasing a 7″ picture disc for the song and donating profits to Tsune’s family.
